Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer and pioneer in the Burgundy winemaking scene. He grew up in a family dedicated to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's. The Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of carefully cultivated and versatile wines, often made from old vines. All of the Maison wines are made with respect to sustainable and natural farming practices, with as little intervention as necessary to showcase their individual terroirs.

Crafted from vines that boast an average age of 48 years, this Bourgogne offers a pure expression of Chardonnay, characterized by its freshness and lifted aromas. Ripe citrus, apple, and subtle toasted notes interplay on the palate and are supported by mid-weight, creamy texture. The refined mineral undertone brings a precise Burgundian elegance, enhancing the overall complexity and balance of this classically styled wine.

A nice option for pairing with grilled chicken or fish cakes served with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.

91 Points - Michael Godel

Ripe, fleshy and golden chardonnay for Maison de Bellene’s 2023, apropos of the season as a gift to all. So ripe in fact you get the apple notes throughout, from blossom to yellow fruit crunch while freshness is caught at peak. The palate is a bit tighter wound than expected and so another six months should see to this old vines cuvée coming into its own. Drink 2025-2027. Tasted March 2025.
