Lighthall Vineyards is a small, proud, low volume and high quality winery located in enchanting Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. All their wines are produced in a non-interventionist manner and fuelled by passion as hearty as our vines. They also make cheese, designed to pair with their wines.

This, Lighthall's first edition of concrete aged Chardonnay, paints the clearest image yet of county terroir. Clear and authentic, the nose is brimming with honeyed apple, lemon yogurt, salted oyster shell, and beeswax. The flavours continue in the palate, but the star of the show is the opulent, luscious, yet elegant mouthfeel that lingers with finesse.

A brilliant seafood wine, this is a knockout with oysters, halibut, butter-poached cod,
lobster, crab, and scallops. Lemon chicken, rabbit, and quail are good meat options, while grilled asparagus, hummus, creamy orzo, and tofu souvlaki make delightful vegetarian picks. Rich, creamy, and mild cheeses are well balanced by the bright acidity and round texture.

Citrusy & Floral

Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara.

The intense aromatics of this wine leap from the glass, lifted by beautiful, creamy bubbles. Explosive aromas of fresh mandarin orange, Meyer lemon, fresh ginger, and notions of nutmeg and honeysuckle immediately engage the olfactory senses. The palate echoes the nose, but also brings in mango, lychee and rose-petal with the light citrus and floral components wiping through the background. A rich mouthfeel is brought on with this warmer vintage as well as the lees in bottle. Serve well chilled. Pour immediately.

Earthy & Juicy

The French have a very beautiful expression for wines like this, they call it “vin de soif”, which essentially means a wine that is measured by the purity, honesty and, especially, by the joy and refreshment it provides. “La Pinada” is just that kind of wine, it showcases the fruit, freshness and balance of a genuine single varietal Bobal. The grapes are exclusively sourced from a single parcel called La Pinada planted in 1958, growing on alluvial and clay soils.

With a fresh and fruit-forward nose, the wine displays aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, blossom, and a hint of earthy minerality. On the palate it is juicy, focused and well balanced, with a crunchy acidity and some light drying tannins.

Jura is that narrow valley in the remote hills between Burgundy and Switzerland, which millions of years ago was covered by an Ocean and today still bares many of the fossils from that time. If you kick a stone in a Jura vineyard, it will probably be a fossil.

Trousseau is by far the rarest grape variety in the Jura, planted in less than 8% of the total Jura vineyard, it has a biological relationship with the white grape Savagnin, being originally from this magical region. The vineyards are planted on rich red marl and gravel soils, along the Cotes du Jura appellation. On the nose, it has aromas of red fruits and leather, with a hint of sub-bois. Tannins are soft and silky, and the palate is very well-balanced.

Enjoy it on its own, or pair it with red meats such as game and venison.

Silky and full bodied, this oak-aged Chardonnay exhibits classics notes of apples, white flowers and citrus. Grown on marl-limestone soils from the Triassic period, it is a balanced wine on the palate, with a distinctive complexity.

Have fun pairing this complex Chardonnay with a raclette or with poultry.

Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this delicate sparkling wine was made using méthode champenoise and was aged 12 months on the lees. Light pink in colour with persistent bubbles, in the glass it expresses notes of strawberry wafers, red currants, and blood orange. On the palate, it has fine bubbles and freshness.

Enjoy it as an aperitif or have it with pastries and desserts.

Stéphane Riffault, Claude Riffault's son, is turning out Sancerre bottlings that are the envy of many producers twice his age. Stéphane studied in Beaune and then learned with Olivier Leflaive in Burgundy. After his time in Burgundy, the vintner went to Bordeaux, where he stayed for some years at Château Angélus, and returned to Sancerre in 2001. When his father Claude retired, Stéphane took over the winery, and converted the vineyards to organic and biodynamic. He has become one of the most sought-after producers in the region.

Les Chasseignes comes from vines just north of the village of Sury-en-Vaux, and is named for the shallow limestone soils that give the wine its tension and intense minerality. 

Racy and bright but with a power and persistence that can surprise given its subtle character. Aged on the lees for 14 months in oak, it opens with a clear, bright yet deep, intense and concentrated bouquet of crushed stones, lemon oil and a hint of fresh oak that disappears with air.

Silky, round and very elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, wide, intense and juicy yet pure and stimulating Sancerre with remarkable finesse and lingering salinity. The long and complex finish reveals concentration, very fine tannins and the mouthwatering taste of crushed limestones. Refreshing lime and lemon notes on the aftertaste. A gorgeous wine with chalky veins and the vibration of great terroir.

Perfect with white meats and grilled fish.
