Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer and pioneer in the Burgundy winemaking scene. He grew up in a family dedicated to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's. The Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of carefully cultivated and versatile wines, often made from old vines. All of the Maison wines are made with respect to sustainable and natural farming practices, with as little intervention as necessary to showcase their individual terroirs.

Displays classic, generous aromas of cherry and raspberry compote, accented by hibiscus and rooibos tea florals, with a touch of gently toasted wood. The palate is finely structured, with polished tannins and invigorating acidity that lend a silky texture and medium weight. Bright, expressive fruit and floral tones carry through to a long, satisfying finish.

Perfectly paired with roasted duck legs served with roasted apples and braised red cabbage.

93 Points - John Szabo, MS

Vieilles vignes in this case means 35 years old, and in 2022 translate into an aromatically pungent and very ripe example of pinot noir, in sync with the warm vintage, with its cherry and raspberry liqueur-type flavours. I like the broad and supple, enveloping palate, the silky-firm texture, the exuberant fruit, the impressive length. A really highly enjoyable wine, drinking so well even at this young stage - I feel it will be a wine to enjoy in the flower of youth, over the next 4-7 years. Great length and substance in the end.
