Proudly family owned, the Borthwick vineyard is an established vineyard situated in Gladstone, the heart of the Wairarapa. Producing quality wine for over a decade, Paddy, an experienced wine maker, has gained a reputation for producing consistently great wines. The twenty seven hectares of vines bordering the Ruamahunga River are growing on stony, free draining, alluvial soils, with a micro climate giving warm daily temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall; perfect conditions for producing distinctive, quality wines.
Traditional Burgundian techniques and minimal handling has produced a Pinot Noir with an intense bouquet of cherries and plums. Flavours of earth and spice complement a rich silky palate with a purity of fruit and finely integrated tannin structure.
A perfect pairing for grilled quail, roasted chicken or the richness of pork shoulder. This wine can also stand up to glazed salmon or a decadent pizza with sweet potato, balsamic onions and soppressata.

Lifted fruit aromas of nectarines, apricots and pineapple have integrated with fermentation in oak to produce a wine of great texture. This wine shows depth of fruit and great palate weight that is enjoyable now or cellar for the next 6 years.
A great wine to pair with seafood, roast chicken, soft, creamy cheeses or grilled fish.

This is impressively ripe and wonderfully fragrant with Black Doris plum, toasted spice, thyme, vanilla and hazelnut characters, leading to a concentrated palate delivering excellent weight and power, while remaining elegant and stylish. Richly expressed and delectably satisfying. At its best: now to 2031.
