Established in 2007 by the folks at Radford Dale winery in South Africa, the Land of Hope project aims to produce and market a range of premium wines wherein 50% of all profits are directed back towards previously disadvantaged employees, their families, and dependents. The Land of Hope Trust focuses on providing high-quality education and skill development opportunities, empowering individuals for long-term social upliftment and contributing to positive economic and democratic evolution.
Land of Hope wines are crafted with meticulous care, with grapes handpicked and minimal intervention applied in line with Radford Dale's philosophy. Each vineyard site across the Western Cape has been meticulously selected with quality in mind, all while prioritizing sustainable agricultural practices. Land of Hope is accredited for their commitment to environmental, ethical, and social upliftment practices, and are proud to introduce their inaugural range of certified organic wines starting from 2022.
This wine shows both the exuberance of the variety in its plentiful floral notes and its nobility through its compelling mineral acidity, naturally bestowed by the site in which it's grown. Endowed with flavours of soft, ripe peaches and yellow apples that mingle harmoniously with the wine's well-integrated oak spice. The creamy texture is complimented by its crisp acidity, providing just enough richness to please the palate and just the right amount of zing to refresh.
Match this wine's richness and complexity with dishes like butternut squash ravioli tossed in sage butter or a creamy chicken pot pie.

In 1984 Neil Ellis sourced grapes from vineyards not of his own and produced wine in rented cellar space. These grapes were sourced in the Stellenbosch district and meant a lot of nosing around the restrictive quota system prevalent at the time.
Today, the experience and knowledge of the past are applied to modern techniques and technologies for a new generation of winemaking. “Our vision remains to make distinctive, refined wines that are expressive of their terrain and rank amongst South Africa’s finest. The Whitehall Chardonnay celebrates the legacy of site-selected vineyards. The grapes for this premium Chardonnay grew just down the road from the Whitehall farm where Neil produced the first certified Sauvignon Blanc. The philosophy is to craft Chardonnay of great purity, reflecting site and the season in which it was grown.
Expect to find a pretty bouquet of zesty lime and crunchy white nectarines married with flinty minerality and hints of hazelnut. Finely structured on the palate, with bright acidity balancing the delicate fruit aromas bringing this wine into graceful harmony. This is a polished wine made from well-practiced hands, combining distinctive character, refined concentration and elegance.
Highly sippable on its own, but will match superbly with salmon, smoked duck, or shellfish.
