Blank Canvas is the personal wine range of husband and wife team, Matt Thomson and Sophie Parker-Thomson, MW. With a focus on Marlborough, Syrah from Hawkes Bay and Pinot Noir from Central Otago, the Blank Canvas wines are exciting, small-batch and increasingly recognized as the avant-garde of New Zealand wine. Every effort is put into making wines that are distinctive and cerebral, unencumbered by a regime or badge and are not beholden to tradition. Every vineyard, variety and vintage is approached as if it is a blank canvas.

Abstract is a study in terroir, shaped by restrained winemaking that highlights purity of fruit and textural depth. The Schild Family have been grape growers in the Barossa Valley since 1952. Growing the estate from one vineyard to over 134ha across 11 precious sites, their generational wisdom and knowledge of the land allows for premium fruit to flourish each vintage. Their Estate Wine label was created as a small side project and quickly grew in reputation and is now loved worldwide.

Sourced from the single-vineyard Liebich site, perched high in the hills behind the township of Rowland Flat, this wine captures both the richness and vitality of its elevated origin. The nose is reminiscent of creamy, freshly scraped vanilla pod and a mélange of dark berry compote draw. On the palate, flavours of satsuma plum and blackberry are layered with classic notes of coffee bean and subtle pepper spice. Its pleasing depth and gentle chewiness speak to the quality of the fruit, while a lift of fresh acidity brings balance and energy. The Piazzo winery’s story began in the 1960s in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, Alba, when newlyweds Armando Piazzo and Gemma Veglia, from farming families, invested in the Langhe, a region not yet recognized for its premium wines. Despite post-war challenges, they saw the area’s potential and focused on Nebbiolo, a varietal now renowned globally. Their first wine, made from Nebbiolo, was released in 1979, and by 1982 it was labeled as Barbaresco. In 1985, with the involvement of their daughter Marina and her husband Franco, the family launched their first Barolo, solidifying the winery’s reputation. Continuing under Marina & family's management, their philosophy blends tradition with innovation, producing wines that authentically reflect the Langhe and Roero regions.

Barbaresco Pajorè is the latest addition to the Estate's collection and is a true expression of a renowned cru in Treiso, one of the four villages in the Barbaresco DOCG region. Named after the farmhouse at the center of the vineyard, “Pajorè” is derived from the local dialect term for its former owner, Peirolero. The lime and clay-rich soils, though low in nutrients, produce small yields that result in fruit packed with complex aromas. This Barbaresco is intense and aromatic with floral hints of roses, subtle spice, and balsamic notes. On the palate, it opens fruity, followed by a dry, tannic structure with a long, rewarding finish.

Since 2009, when the winery was founded, Fabio Motta has followed a clear and consistent winemaking philosophy shaped by his experience working alongside the renowned Bolgheri winemaker Michele Satta. Each wine reflects a personal vision that remains deeply faithful to both the land and the vintage, while never repeating itself from year to year. This approach has remained unchanged even following Fabio Motta’s integration into the Agricole Gussalli Beretta group, reinforcing his belief that wine is inseparable from both the individual who crafts it and the vineyard from which it originates—together defining the value, personality, and uniqueness of every bottle.
Each label is the result of careful, deliberate choices aimed at expressing the character of the Bolgheri terroir through respectful, precise, and timely work in both the vineyard and cellar. Bolgheri Superiore Le Gonnare was created to express the outstanding quality and distinctive character of its namesake vineyard, crafted exclusively from the estate’s finest grapes. Sourced from the highest vineyard site, with its cooler exposure and significant clay content in the soils, the wine benefits from an exceptional balance of altitude, aspect, and terroir that allows for a slow, complete phenolic ripening of the Merlot, shaping its refined structure and palate definition. Merlot provides the wine’s core of richness and harmony, while Cab Sauv contributes depth, structure, and complexity through its firm tannic framework, supporting both balance and long-term ageing potential.

An intense and precise bouquet opens with aromas of violet and red rose, layered with blackberry, black cherry, and plum, followed by subtle hints of apricot and myrtle berries. The Cortonesi family has been a cornerstone of the Montalcino region for decades. Established in the 1970s, their estate spans 138 acres in one of the area's most storied regions, with 19 acres dedicated to producing world-class Brunello. The family began commercially selling their wine in 1985, and today, third-generation winemaker Tommaso Cortonesi continues the tradition. Tommaso combines his long-standing family traditions with modern technologies to craft some of the finest expressions of Tuscan Sangiovese. 

Abundant in character, the Cortonesi Brunello di Montalcino La Mannella Riserva beautifully reflects the warm, sunny, and luminous 2019 growing season. Layers of dark plum, black cherry, and cassis are complemented by notes of sweet spice, tobacco, and balsamic herbs. Raised amidst the vineyards, Alexandre Favier is part of a long line of winemakers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. His grandfather, Noël Sabon, hails from one of the region’s most renowned winemaking families. Alexandre began his viticultural studies at the age of fifteen in Orange, completing his exams by 2001. Just a year later, at the age of twenty, he assumed full winemaking responsibilities at Domaine Chante Cigale when his father’s health declined. Today, Domaine Chante Cigale stands as one of the most important family estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Extrait consists of 50% Roussanne and 50% Grenache Blanc. The Roussanne for Extrait comes from a very specific plot and the vines are over 40 years old. For a wine this unctuous and textured, the palate shows remarkable balance and freshness. Aromas of apricot, peach and citrus are complemented by some perfumed florals and well integrated, savoury oak. The finish is incredibly long and fresh.

Nicolas Potel was an iconic figure and pioneering force in Burgundy’s modern winemaking landscape. A native of Volnay with winemaking in his blood, he built his reputation early on through a natural affability that helped him establish a broad and lasting network within the wine trade. After studying viticulture in Beaune and gaining experience both locally and abroad, he founded Maison Roche de Bellene in 1997 - a négociant house dedicated to small-lot bottlings with a strong focus on sourcing old-vine parcels. He later expanded the range with Collection Bellenum, which specializes in the acquisition and release of carefully cellared, well-aged vintages from growers with a tradition of long-term ageing. An early advocate of organic farming and a consistent champion of terroir expression, Potel was widely respected for his vision and integrity; he tragically passed away in the summer of 2025, leaving behind a significant legacy in Burgundy and beyond.

Crafted from vines that boast an average age of 48 years, this Bourgogne offers a pure expression of Chardonnay, characterized by its freshness and lifted aromas. Ripe citrus, apple, and subtle toasted notes interplay on the palate and are supported by mid-weight, creamy texture. The refined mineral undertone brings a precise Burgundian elegance, enhancing the overall complexity and balance of this classically styled wine. 

The warm summers in Blewitt Springs, South Australia are often accompanied by the arrival of magnificent Cape Barren geese. Since 1999 Cape Barren have been producing exceptional wines that capture the essence of the McLaren Vale region’s distinctive flavours.

The Cape Barren GSM displays aromas of raspberry, plum, blackberry and spicy notes bursting from the glass. A plush and soft palate is led by bright fruit and subtle spice. By the late 1980s, under the leadership of the founder’s grandson Guy, the domaine entered a new era. In the glass, the wine shows a bright straw-yellow colour with subtle green highlights. The clay-limestone terroir gives rise to an expressive, inviting nose with a rounded, generous character. The palate is full and smooth, unfolding flavours of white orchard fruit, honeyed almond, and a touch of menthol freshness. Named after a Catholic institution in Autun that originally owned the entire site before the land was divided up after the French Revolution, Clos Saint Jean is an iconic Chassagne vineyard known primarily for its reds—but it also lends itself beautifully to Chardonnay. Thanks to its favourable exposure, gentle slope, and deep soils, the site offers excellent conditions for white wine expression. Today, about one-third of the estate’s Clos Saint Jean holdings are planted with white grape varieties.
