Wife and husband winemaking team, Andrea and Chris Mullineux, set out with a shared vision to create authentic Swartland wines that reflect the distinct terroir of the region while embracing reasoned, sustainable farming practices and modern minimalist winemaking. Their commitment to quality and their deep respect for the environment and their employees have earned them acclaim both nationally and internationally, and has led to Mullineux being awarded South African Winery of the Year an unprecedented five times by the highly respected Platter’s Guide.
Sourced from two heritage Chenin Blanc vineyards averaging 48 years of age, Mullineux’s Straw Wine captures the unique character of the Paardeberg’s decomposed granite soils. These high-altitude, dry-farmed sites encourage slow, even ripening, while cool evenings preserve the bright acidity that brings balance, freshness, and complexity to this distinctive expression.
Radiant and richly textured, the 2025 Mullineux Straw Wine displays a brilliant golden hue, with vibrant acidity and striking mineral energy. The palate unfolds with layers of sun-dried apricot, fresh lime, and subtle pithy complexity, leading into a distinctive meebos-like salinity. Luxuriously smooth and velvety in texture, the wine carries through to a long, elegant finish with remarkable persistence.
