About the Winery
Paddy Borthwick

Proudly family owned, the Borthwick vineyard is an established vineyard situated in Gladstone, the heart of the Wairarapa. Producing quality wine for over a decade, Paddy, an experienced wine maker, has gained a reputation for producing consistently great wines. The twenty seven hectares of vines bordering the Ruamahunga River are growing on stony, free draining, alluvial soils, with a micro climate giving warm daily temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall; perfect conditions for producing distinctive, quality wines.
In line with the family’s legacy of international trade, 90 percent of the wine is exported around the world. Paddy believes in sustainability and best practice within a vineyard, developing an asset for generations to come.
Like the four P’s of marketing, we believe in the four P’s of Wine: Place, People, Passion, and Philosophy.

Complex and enticing bouquet with a core scent of mineral and clay, then aromas of fresh citrus and red apple, quite pure fruited and fragrant, lifted and distinctive, Flavours on the palate reflect the bouquet led by lemon and apple, gooseberry and roasted pineapple then peach and hay. Great texture and overall mouthfeel, a wine to chill and drink ... through 2027. Excellent

About the Winery
Sister's Run

Sister’s Run is serious fun. Their talented young winemaker Elena wears steel cap work boots every day of course, but carries a pair of high heels in back of the ute, only for emergencies, like last minute invitations to accept trophies at gala wine show dinners and the like.
Returning from a ‘knees-up’ at midnight, mid vintage, she managed to kick off one high heel and slip back into a boot’ just as the cellar crew cried out, ‘Run Sister Run’; and exactly then their winemaker and label took flight!
The stiletto and boot are Sister’s Run; an independently owned and operated winery with a fierce commitment to making the best wines they can from family vineyards. They don’t take ourselves as seriously as we take our wines, but agree with Elena, all you need to know about wine is the five ‘V’s and remember the best wine is the wine you like.

Inky hued, this is a densely packed Cab with concentrated black and red berry fruit, licorice, cedar and winter warming spice behind. It's as rich and mouth-filling on the palate as the colour and aromas suggest, but with a lovely lift of tangy acidity to balance chiseled, powerful tannins. Best Buy.

Intensely expressed and instantly appealing, the wine shows green rockmelon, feijoa, kiwifruit and lemon peel aromas, leading to a splendidly flavoursome palate that's filled with juicy fruit flavours with lively acidity, finishing persistent and delicious. At its best: now to 2027
