Husband and wife winemaker team, Chris and Andrea Mullineux, set out with a shared vision to create authentic Swartland wines that reflect the distinct terroir of the region while embracing reasoned, sustainable farming practices and modern minimalist winemaking. Their commitment to quality and their deep respect for the environment and their employees have earned them acclaim both nationally and internationally, and has led to Mullineux being awarded South African Winery of the Year an unprecedented five times by the highly respected Platter’s Guide.

The vineyards selected for this balanced yet intensely sweet and remarkable Straw Wine naturally possess high acidity, concentrated flavour, and excellent structure. These qualities are rooted in the calibre of old-vine Chenin Blanc planted on the decomposed granite soils of the Paardeberg.

The grapes for this fifth bottling were hand-harvested over multiple vintages between 2008 and 2024. Deeply rich yet bright and fresh, the wine reveals itself seamlessly from the first sip to the last decadent drop. The nose draws you in with notes of sun-dried apricot, fynbos honey, and salted marzipan, leading to a palate of remarkable concentration and balance. The interplay of richness and freshness creates a beautifully harmonious and moreish wine, culminating in an intense, zesty finish.

97 Points - Neal Martin

The Olerasay 5º comes from the perpetual solera that imparts a secondary concentration in the winery through evaporation. This now includes vintages from 2008 to 2024. This has a less expressive bouquet compared to the '24 Straw wine, opening gradually with smoked walnut, dried honey and wet wool scents. The palate is unctuous on the entry, a keen line of acidity maintaining freshness, lacquering the mouth with honey, fig and quince flavours. But really, it's all about the texture and decadence of this wine. Outstanding.
