Villa Calcinaia is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, near the village of Greve-in-Chianti. This Tuscan estate has been home to the Capponi family since 1524. It is now in the hands of 37th-generation Conte Sebastiano Capponi, who has managed the estate since 1992.

Produced from the best blocks of old vines with the sunniest exposition in the estate, near Greve in Chianti. The perfectly ripened, healthy grapes from each block are long fermented and then aged separately for 20 months in French oak 500 litres tonneaux and Slavonian oak 30 hl casks. After the cuvée is made the wine ages for another 4-6 months before its bottling.

The colour of the Riserva is rich ruby, yet the bouquet is mature in its fruit and judicious with its well integrated oak nuances. The taste is soft and velvety on the palate, showing fine structure in harmonious balance with the ripe fruits and uplifting acidity. The after taste is tireless and spicy. 

This is a bottle for important occasions, served alongside rich meat dishes but it will also bring much added enjoyment during conversations with fellow revellers!

Located in Traiguén in Chile’s southern Araucanía region, some 600 km south of Santiago, Baettig’s Viñedos Los Suizos site sits in a cool-climate zone shaped by volcanic soils, native forests, and abundant rainfall. With mild summers, cool, wet winters, and limited sunlight, conditions here allow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to ripen slowly and evenly. The vineyards are rooted in ancient volcanic soils rich in clay, loam, and deep stony layers, which promote balanced vine growth, excellent drainage, and a distinctive mineral character in the wines.

The name Los Primos (the cousins) refers to the closeness of style and quality of the vineyard parcels that make up this Pinot. Sourced exclusively from a selection of the El
Primo, Chuir, and La Cuñada parcels, the blend results in elegant yet tightly structured wines with long aging potential.

The nose is ripe and complex, declaring aromas of fresh bing cherries, rosehip and wild strawberries up front. Softer floral aromas of violet and lavender unfurl underneath the fruits giving way to notes of dried orange peel and damp forest floor. The palate it is tense, with extremely fine tannins and juicy acidity supporting bright notes of pomegranate, graphite-minerality and chalk. The tight finish and great structure make this one for the cellar.

Lighthall Vineyards is a small, proud, low volume and high quality winery located in enchanting Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. All their wines are produced in a non-interventionist manner and fuelled by passion as hearty as our vines. They also make cheese, designed to pair with their wines.

As typically found in County Chardonnay, this wine starts with aromas of flinty
minerality, Asian pear, and salted caramel. A round palate is filled with flavours of golden delicious apple, baking spices, and a hint of lemon. Put together, it’s like an apple crumble before it’s been baked! The smooth texture and long finish leave you satiating for more.

Our Phillipston Road (Manchego-style) cheese is literally made for this wine. Rich, salty, and nutty, it makes a perfect match. Coquilles St. Jaques, Oysters Rockefeller, halibut, spaghetti cacio e pepe, zucchini ravioli with grated lemon zest, butter poached cod, and chicken with a cream sauce are all wonderful pairings.
