Founded in 1971 by Véronique and Aimé Guibert, Mas de Daumas Gassac carries forward a winemaking legacy that dates back 13 centuries to the monks of Aniane Abbey. Véronique and Aimé established the estate with a deep respect for the terroir. Since Aimé’s passing in 2016, their sons—Samuel, Gaël, Roman, Amélien, and Basile—have taken over its management, each contributing their expertise while upholding the estate’s core philosophy: respect. Guided by this principle, they see themselves not as alchemists but as stewards of the land, dedicated to crafting wines that embody the wild beauty and complexity of the Haute Vallée du Gassac.

Opening with an expressive profile of hawthorn and acacia, gradually unfolding into delicate notes of yellow-fleshed fruits, lifted by a subtle saline, almost iodine-like nuance that adds a sprightly freshness to the aromatics. The palate is energetic and lively, balanced by generous layers of ripe apricot, pear, and white peach, accented by bright citrus and fresh almond. The finish is rounded and indulgent, recalling almond tart and frangipane, and is underpinned by a gentle touch of tannin and a fine, refreshing bitterness.

Equally compelling as an aperitif or at the table, it pairs beautifully with gratinated oysters, pan-seared foie gras, and scallops with cream and citrus.

Jeb Dunnuck - The Languedoc: 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024

97 Points - Birte Jantzen

Very long, balanced, mellow, and supple, the 2023 IGP Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert Cité D’Aniane Blanc reveals a floral, fruity, and expressive bouquet, with notes of peach, honey, garrigue flowers, bitter almond, and elderflower. Playful and complex, it effortlessly combines pleasure and character, with a subtle bitterness that adds a touch of freshness on the finish. A superb white wine for cellaring, it’s delicate, juicy, and generous, with astonishing elegance. Drink 2025-2040.
