Winemaker Alex Russell’s journey into the world of fermentation began with humble beginnings. Starting at a young age making home-brewed beverages, his interests eventually led him to formal education, where he studied the exciting world of Viticulture and Wine Science. After spending time cutting his teeth in the Australian wine industry, he began developing his own projects. Alex’s obsession with quality and sustainability are unwavering. Nowhere is this more evident than with the release of his newest range of wines under the Russell & Suitor banner.

Inspired by the idyllic and pristine terroir of Tasmania, and the new opportunities such a climate presents, Alex has grabbed the proverbial bull by the horns with familiar confidence and the gentle hand required for cool-climate winemaking.

This wine offers delicate aromas of zesty citrus fruit and white peach, with a light whiff of petrol--a hallmark of the Riesling grape variety. Presenting a pleasant saltiness on the palate, the structure is well-defined, finishing crisp and clean with a persistent splash of white blossom and green pear.

This will be a hit with grilled sausages or try with veal schnitzel with a squeeze of lemon!

90 Points-Michael Godel

The work of Alex Russell out of Pipers River, markedly and distinctly aromatic for riesling. Early petrol onset with lime-ginger tonic and a different sort of saltiness. Structural parameters are well-defined and this should age not only well but with ever-changing and developing interest. Drink 2022-2027. Tasted January 2022.
