Portrait of the Cape tells the story of a landscape through four exceptional wines. From ancient vines and forgotten varieties to windswept coastal sites and the vast diversity of the Swartland, each bottle offers a unique perspective on the people, places, and traditions that define the Cape.

Palladius combines multiple varieties from 17 different vineyard parcels to create a broad and intricate portrait of the Swartland region. The 2023 is fresh and vibrant despite 24 months of ageing, thanks to the influence of acid-driven, lower-alcohol varieties that bring energy and balance to the blend. Bright notes of lime, green apple, and salinity lead into a finely structured palate with polished tannins, focused acidity, and a long, elegant finish. A standout expression of the vintage.

Skerpioen (Scorpion) hails from a distinctive site between Dwarskersbos and Elands Bay on the West Coast. The 2024 vintage offers defined peach and citrus flavours with subtle tropical notes, evolving into the vineyard’s signature salty-brine character. With slightly lower acidity than usual, the aromatics suggest the wine is approachable earlier, making it one of the earliest-ready whites in the range.

Columella is a masterfully crafted blend of Mediterranean red varieties, selected for their affinity with the soils and oceanic climate of the Swartland. Composed of nine small, distinctive vineyard parcels, the wine captures the essence of the region, serving as a true ambassador of Swartland terroir.

Founded in 2015 by visionary oenologist Nikos Karatzas, Oenops Wines is based in the historic winemaking region of Drama in Northern Greece, the legendary land of Dionysus. Drawing on experience gained at some of the region's leading wineries, Nikos set out to champion Greece's indigenous grape varieties by partnering with dedicated growers who farm exceptional old vineyards across the country. The winery's DOTS series showcases highly acclaimed, single-varietal wines made from Greece’s distinctive grapes, each expressing a refined and complex sense of character. The name “DOTS” is inspired by the optical illusion featured on the label, where the name of each grape variety is subtly revealed through a pointillist arrangement of coloured dots.

Sourced from exceptional terroirs in Naoussa and Amyntaio, this wine beautifully captures the essence of Xinomavro — lively, authentic, and true to the character of the land from which it comes. Showing a vibrant medium ruby colour, it opens with bright aromas of cherry, ripe strawberry, floral notes, and subtle spice. The palate is energetic and generous, with layers of tangy red fruit, juicy tannins, and refreshing acidity that bring balance and finesse. A long, intense finish completes this beautifully structured expression of the variety.

Domaine André Aubert, has been formed over decades and generations by one very passionate wine family and today comprises of more than 280 hectares spread from north to south of the prestigious Southern Rhone Valley on the appellations Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône villages, Visan, and Grignan-les-Adhémar. 

This is a perfectly balanced blend of Grenache and Syrah from the southern Rhône appellation of Visan which is the realm of the Aleppo pine, of lavender and truffles – and of course, the vine. Owing to the Mediterranean climate, expect lush fruit aromas of blackberries and cherries, with hints of freshly crushed peppercorns. It's full-bodied, rich and juicy with a smooth finish.

Since 2009, when the winery was founded, Fabio Motta has followed a clear and consistent winemaking philosophy shaped by his experience working alongside the renowned Bolgheri winemaker Michele Satta. Each wine reflects a personal vision that remains deeply faithful to both the land and the vintage, while never repeating itself from year to year. This approach has remained unchanged even following Fabio Motta’s integration into the Agricole Gussalli Beretta group, reinforcing his belief that wine is inseparable from both the individual who crafts it and the vineyard from which it originates—together defining the value, personality, and uniqueness of every bottle.
Each label is the result of careful, deliberate choices aimed at expressing the character of the Bolgheri terroir through respectful, precise, and timely work in both the vineyard and cellar. Rather than adhering to fixed formulas, the wines instead interpret each season and soil type with an artisanal sensitivity that allows their true expression to emerge.

Bolgheri Superiore Le Gonnare was created to express the outstanding quality and distinctive character of its namesake vineyard, crafted exclusively from the estate’s finest grapes. Sourced from the highest vineyard site, with its cooler exposure and significant clay content in the soils, the wine benefits from an exceptional balance of altitude, aspect, and terroir that allows for a slow, complete phenolic ripening of the Merlot, shaping its refined structure and palate definition. Merlot provides the wine’s core of richness and harmony, while Cab Sauv contributes depth, structure, and complexity through its firm tannic framework, supporting both balance and long-term ageing potential.

An intense and precise bouquet opens with aromas of violet and red rose, layered with blackberry, black cherry, and plum, followed by subtle hints of apricot and myrtle berries. The finish reveals more savoury and aromatic complexity, with notes of coffee beans, liquorice root, mint, and eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine is full yet elegantly poised, with fine, well-defined tannins supported by vibrant acidity. The finish is long, fresh, and savoury, echoing both fruity and balsamic nuances.

Named after the Piedmontese dialect term Punset, meaning “beautiful hill” or “point,” this historic estate in Neive was once noted by the Counts of Castelborgo for rising above the region’s autumn mists. Family-owned for generations, the winery officially began bottling commercially in 1964 under Renzo Marcarino, before Marina Marcarino led its transformative shift to certified organic farming in the early 1980s. Today, guided by biodynamic principles and a deep respect for natural balance, the estate is known for its minimally interventionist approach, grass-covered vineyards, and thriving biodiversity that work in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem.

Produced from a 1-hectare parcel in the San Cristoforo cru, Punset’s Campo Quadro Riserva sits alongside the estate’s Basarin Riserva, though the two are vinified in distinct styles.

In the glass, it shows an elegant, structured profile with an intense colour and a complex aromatic range that unfolds from ripe fruit to more delicate floral tones, layered with spice, chocolate and subtle buttery notes. Rooted in a winemaking tradition spanning four generations, Les Vignobles Aubert has grown into one of the Southern Rhône’s leading family-run wine groups, uniting six estates and châteaux across the region’s left bank. Led today by Alain, Claude, Yves, Christine, Aurélien, and the next generation of the Aubert family, the group cultivates nearly 480 hectares across 11 Southern Rhône appellations, combining deep respect for terroir with a modern, quality-driven approach to viticulture and winemaking. The Schild Family have been grape growers in the Barossa Valley since 1952. Growing the estate from one vineyard to over 134ha across 11 precious sites, their generational wisdom and knowledge of the land allows for premium fruit to flourish each vintage. Their Estate Wine label was created as a small side project and quickly grew in reputation and is now loved worldwide.

Sourced from the single-vineyard Liebich site, perched high in the hills behind the township of Rowland Flat, this wine captures both the richness and vitality of its elevated origin. The nose is reminiscent of creamy, freshly scraped vanilla pod and a mélange of dark berry compote draw. On the palate, flavours of satsuma plum and blackberry are layered with classic notes of coffee bean and subtle pepper spice. Its pleasing depth and gentle chewiness speak to the quality of the fruit, while a lift of fresh acidity brings balance and energy. The fruit flows seamlessly across the back palate, framed by well-integrated tannins that will continue to soften and evolve with time in the cellar.

Founded in 2014 around a dining table at Norwood’s Queen Street, C.W. Wines has grown from humble beginnings into one of Australia’s most successful family-owned wine businesses. With a portfolio spanning the Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale, and the Barossa, their vineyards and sourced fruit cover a wide range of beloved varietals, all processed at their state-of-the-art Stonehaven Winery. Originally built by Constellation Brands in the late 90s, the facility was acquired by C.W. Thompson Steer draws its name from the winding lakes and gently rolling fields that surround its vineyards in the country town of Mundulla where its grapes are grown. 

The Limestone Coast Cab opens with fragrant aromas of ripe cassis, dark plum, and black cherry, layered with hints of cedar and fresh mint that add a cooling lift. Full-bodied, it features rounded, blossoming tannins and balanced acidity, while the liqueur-like fruit is refined by oak aging, enhancing structure and depth without being overpowering. The finish is long and resonant, with sappy fruit framed by subtle notes of cocoa powder and dried tobacco.

Nestled at the foot of the hillside in Aloxe-Corton, Château Corton Frey stands as one of Burgundy’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the late 19th century atop 15th-century cellars, this historic estate is the region’s most photographed site after the Hospices de Beaune. Legend holds that Emperor Charlemagne once owned vineyards here in the 8th century, planting Chardonnay to preserve the whiteness of his beard.

The estate’s seven hectares span thirteen prestigious appellations, forming part of Burgundy’s intricate mosaic of climats, where the expression of terroir has been honed over centuries. Under the ownership of Caroline Frey, a highly regarded oenologist and winegrower, Château Corton Frey brings together Burgundian tradition with a sustainable, precision-driven philosophy. With intentionally limited production, each wine is crafted to reflect the purity and character of its origin.

An area that's considered by some to produce the finest red wines of the Côte de Beaune, Volnay is perched high on narrow, steep slopes, where vines have been cultivated for centuries and benefit from ample space to thrive.

Elegant and ethereal, this village wine opens with pure fruit aromas of cherry and wild raspberry, lifted by fragrant peony and rose petal notes, with hints of gently unfolding spice. Juicy yet refined on the palate, it shows textbook balance between its supportive structure and intensity of flavour. Immensely enjoyable, it finishes long, with defined and lingering fruit.
