Founded in 1974 by Valentino Migliorini, a Michelin-starred restaurateur with a visionary approach to winemaking, Rocche dei Manzoni quickly became a pioneer in the Langhe. Valentino introduced groundbreaking innovations such as the first Nebbiolo-Barbera blend (Bricco Manzoni), the use of small oak barrels, and traditional method sparkling wines—well ahead of his time. Today, under the direction of his son Rodolfo, the estate continues its legacy of experimentation and precision, producing acclaimed Barolo, innovative blends, and sparkling wines that showcase both tradition and forward-thinking spirit.
The Pianpolvere Soprano Bussia project began in 1998 with the purchase of this historic Monforte d’Alba vineyard. Under Rodolfo's careful stewardship and commitment to the sustainable Green Experience program, the estate crafts two Barolos of authentic character from this single site: Barolo Pianpolvere Soprano Bussia DOCG, first released in 2016 to critical acclaim, and Barolo Pianpolvere Soprano Bussia Riserva DOCG, produced only in exceptional vintages.
Rich and expansive on the nose, with layers of dried flowers, spice, wet earth, and dark chocolate. The palate is powerful yet refined, showing remarkable balance between depth and elegance. Velvety tannins and lively acidity carry the wine with grace, leading to a long, persistent finish that highlights its complexity and finesse - a true expression of Barolo Riserva at its finest.
A must have for every cellar - Expected storage lifetime 35/40 years.

96 Points - Antonio Galloni
The 2010 Barolo Riserva Bussia from Pianpolvere Soprano is a flat out stunner. It is also the first Barolo I've tasted under Rocche dei Manzoni's stuartship of this historic Monforte estate that takes me back to the wines of Ferruccio Fenocchio prior to his passing. Rose petal, mint, kirsh, spice and blood orange are some of the many notes that shape this exquisite, classically translucent Barolo. Medium in body and supremely refined, the 2010 is utterly beguiling. I can't wait to taste it with bottle age.
