Matías Riccitelli was born in Cafayete, Salta. He identifies as a traveler and a tireless dreamer. After countless harvests throughout the world, he decided to combine everything he has learned and dedicate himself to exploring the excellent terroirs of Mendoza and the teachings of his mentor, and father, Jorge Riccitelli.
This single vineyard wine comes from the area of San Pablo, in Valle de Uco, at 1500 masl. The soils are a mix of loam/clay and limestone gravel. The unique conditions of the soil and the weather make this Malbec truly show the great potential of the San Pablo area.
Matías keeps 30% of the grapes with whole cluster, which ferment and macerate with the remaining destememed grapes in concrete vats. Soft and gentle punchdowns are made to obtain a long extraction. The wine ages in French foûdres for 16 months.
With the eyes closed this wine is reminiscent of the old world and not the new, because it has a timeless elegance and an ethereal structure that reminds us more of France. All these are probably due to the crazy altitude (1500) and the even crazier winemaker behind it. Impermeable black fruit, floral character and incredible finesse.
