Schild Estate own over 134ha of estate vineyards throughout the Southern Barossa including some of the oldest vines in the world planted in 1847. Spread across 11 unique sites they produce a range of premium fruit. Having such an intimate knowledge of these site allows the winemaking and vineyard teams to achieve an absolute synergy from vineyard to winery to wine. 

Schild Estate team are passionate in their belief that the best wines are driven by the unique characteristics of each vineyard which makes Schild Estate wines an authentic reflection of the terroir in the region.

66% Shiraz and 34% Cabernet Sauvignon. The classic Aussie blend. Choc dipped plums and cherries, creamy baking spice oak, and a whiff of iodine. It's pliant, smooth and fleshy, all the choc-cherry flavours, slightly toasty and spicy, plump tannin and sage run on a pretty long finish. Nicely done. Drink: 2021-2030.

The Real Review

Deep red colour with purple tints, the bouquet loaded with vegetable aromas, laced with sweet spices and underlying mulberry. Chaffy later. The palate is focused, intense and slightly lean in its profile, the finish big on ironstone and graphite, muted blackberry too, with a touch of chew and quite good persistence. A wine with plenty of potential.

Ripe but still-juicy strawberry and plum preserves are in the fore on this big-boned but finessed wine. Spicy cedar wood, violet, chocolate and a gentle earthy, pepper spice trail behind. The palace is round in shape with silky, pleasantly plump berry fruit and well-placed spiced tannins. More characterful that many of this brands others reds, this is still young so a decanter and protein is vital if drinking now, otherwise cellar until around 2024, then drink until another eight to ten years beyond that.
