Founded in 1974 by Valentino Migliorini, a Michelin-starred restaurateur with a visionary approach to winemaking, Rocche dei Manzoni quickly became a pioneer in the Langhe. Valentino introduced groundbreaking innovations such as the first Nebbiolo-Barbera blend (Bricco Manzoni), the use of small oak barrels, and traditional method sparkling wines—well ahead of his time. Today, under the direction of his son Rodolfo, the estate continues its legacy of experimentation and precision, producing acclaimed Barolo, innovative blends, and sparkling wines that showcase both tradition and forward-thinking spirit.
The Estate Barolo opens with a pristine, finely knit aromatic profile where ripe fruit and delicate florals are seamlessly interwoven. Deep notes of macerated fruit are lifted by hints of violet, geranium, and cyclamen, all subtly framed by lightly toasted wood and spiced hazelnut peel. The palate is elegant and beautifully focused—direct and firmly tannic, yet never abrasive thanks to its poised alcohol and supple, balanced flavours. Persistent floral and fruity nuances carry through with a gentle bitter tinge that adds depth, while the texture remains caressing and refined, tapering into a talc-like dryness. The finish is long and purposeful, revealing a final flicker of rhubarb and a clean, dry tannic line.
Pour with herb-crusted prime rib roast served with crispy roasted potatoes.
