In 2005 three fellows born & raised among the vineyards of the Langhe - Gianmatteo 'Jimmy' Raineri, Fabrizio Giraudo, and Luciano Racca - started Raineri Winery. This was meant to be a small project focused on the production of Dolcetto from the famous Dogliani area, however, the friend's passion and respect for wine and its cultural tradition in the region pushed them to expand shortly after inception. Along with Dolcetto, they craft Barbera, Nebbiolo and even Barolo from vineyards located in Monforte d’Alba. With the help of their families, and generous advice from wise producers, they were able to fulfill their dream of making classic wines of Piedmont.
The wines are shaped under a guiding, shared philosophy. Manual work for absolute care of each grapevine; wine let to age in barrels made with only the best oak; and daily barrel sampling to learn and engage in the wine's evolution.
Scents of red cherries and wild strawberries unwind at the onset, giving way to hints of undergrowth and dried lavender. Dry on the palate with medium weight and lightly building tannins that pull this wine together into an easy-drinking and approachable style. Vivid acidity invigorates the red berry and savoury herbal flavours, allowing them to extend into the pleasing finish.
Thanks to Dolcetto's medium body and moderate tannins, it creates wines that are easily adapted to most cuisine. Its lightly savoury streak will be a great match for foods seasoned with fresh herbs like basil, thyme, or rosemary. This is a great every day sipper and will work well alongside lighter fare as well as grilled meats.
