Historical records show that the Martín Berdugo family’s south-facing estate on the banks of the River Duero has been dedicated to grape cultivation for more than 200 years. The modern chapter began in the late 1980s, when Josefina Martín Berdugo, together with her husband Enrique and their three children—Antonio, Bruno, and Pepa—began new plantings that would define the estate. In its early years, the fruit was sold to other wineries, but as the vines matured, their quality revealed remarkable potential. To capture this, a modern winery was built among the vineyards in 2000. Today, under the leadership of Antonio, Martín Berdugo crafts wines that embody the character and individuality of Ribera del Duero’s emblematic Tinto Fino grape.

This vintage is the first since the devastating 2013 fire that nearly destroyed the family winery. Crafted from the oldest vines, where naturally low yields deliver exceptional fruit quality, it offers an expressive bouquet of ripe strawberries, cherries, and blackberries layered with vanilla and cedar from oak ageing. The palate is concentrated yet cohesive, with silky texture, polished tannins, and perfectly balanced acidity. Rich, persistent flavours carry through to a long, lingering finish, promising excellent cellaring potential. Production is limited to just 3,920 bottles.

Pairs beautifully with a fine fillet steak or game, while also complementing inventive vegetarian dishes and the finest mature cheeses.

This is holding up nicely with some bark, minty balsamic fruit, blueberries and vanilla. Rich, flavourful and full-bodied on the palate with gritty tannins and a long, creamy finish. Drink now.
