Wife and husband winemaking team, Andrea and Chris Mullineux, set out with a shared vision to create authentic Swartland wines that reflect the distinct terroir of the region while embracing reasoned, sustainable farming practices and modern minimalist winemaking. Their commitment to quality and their deep respect for the environment and their employees have earned them acclaim both nationally and internationally, and has led to Mullineux being awarded South African Winery of the Year an unprecedented five times by the highly respected Platter’s Guide.
This exceptional Chardonnay site is located on the high, gravelly slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, in close proximity to False Bay. Planted at 400 metres above sea level, the vines benefit from the region’s cool maritime influence, with warm days and mild nights preserving freshness while bringing remarkable intensity and precision to the wine.
Reflective of its terroir, the wine reveals layered aromas of perfumed nasturtium and freshly cut lime. The palate is vibrant and precise, with flavours of crisp yellow stone fruit complemented by a subtle flinty salinity and a generous, textured finish. Beautifully balanced on release, but will continue to develop complexity with careful cellaring over the next 15 to 20 years.
