The Hager's winery consists of 13ha of vineyards in and around the small wine-growing village of Mollands in the Kamptal region of Austria. The strength of this family business is its soil diversity. Loess, clay and different kinds of primary rock (mica schist, gneiss, etc.) can be found in the northern part of the region. Since 2006, the winery has been working according to the biodynamic guidelines of the Demeter Association. Matthias' philosophy is that nature is a sophisticated system which is to be explored and it has it's own unique self-regulating power that can be used for viniculture.

The grapes are hand harvested from 50 year old vines, fermented with natural yeasts and left on the lees for over a year. The wine is unfined and unfiltered with only minimum SO² added at bottling.  Expect to find aromas of honeydew melon, yellow apple with a touch of mint on the nose. A truly special GV with the fantastic smokiness combined with a mild mineral tone and spiciness on the palate. Soft in texture with a wonderful aftertaste of honeysuckle.

This Gruner will be a great match with food - try with smoked ham or fish.
