Garage Wine Co was quite literally started in a garage in 2001, by Etobicoke expat Derek Mossman and his wife Pilar Miranda. Since then, the dynamic duo have chosen to revive old vineyards in marginalized Chilean communities. They work mostly in the regions of Maule and Itata where they make highly coveted wines.

This Maipo Valley Cab is crafted with a distinctly lighter touch. A portion of whole clusters and stems in the ferment adds aromatic lift and depth, softening the appellation’s typical weight and lending the wine a more agile, refined profile. New oak was deliberately avoided to emphasize purity, freshness, and drinkability.

In the glass, it shows an intense ruby colour and an expressive bouquet of fresh red fruits, cherry pit, and dried flowers, accented by subtle black pepper. The palate is vibrant and juicy, with flavours of cherry and raspberry layered with a pronounced floral note. Silky, well-integrated tannins provide structure and carry through to a long, energetic finish.

93 Points - Joaquín Hidalgo

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Reelegido Vineyard - Lot 121 hails from the Isla de Maipo, Maipo Valley. It presents a dark garnet hue in the glass. Aged for two winters in oak barrels, it reveals notes of cassis, marmalade and mint, along with sun-kissed, ripe character typical of the 2020 vintage. Dry, rich and textured on the palate, its warm and overwhelming mouthfeel stands out as an anomaly in the Garage Wine Co. style. This is a savoury red wine bearing the unmistakable imprint of the vintage.
