Cordero Mario marks the return of one of Barolo's most storied winemaking families to their roots in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Langhe. Mario Cordero set out to build a new winery close to the family's original vineyards. Guided by his decades of experience shaping modern Barolo, Cordero Mario carries forward the family's deep respect for terroir into a new generation of wines. The estate farms 11 hectares of organically-managed vineyards, focusing on minimal intervention with hand- harvesting, partial whole-bunch fermentation and ageing in French oak tonneaux to build structure while preserving freshness.
Bright straw-yellow color with golden reflections. The nose opens with a complex bouquet
of ripe peach and apricot, acacia, and broom blossom, complemented by delicate honey
notes, subtle balsamic hints, and mineral flint nuances. On the palate, vibrant acidity and
refined minerality provide balance and elegance, supported by a full, rounded body. The
finish is long, persistent, and layered with fruity and lightly spicy nuances, reflecting
excellent aging potential.
This is very versatile wine, good pairing for first courses with meat sauces, and perfect with main courses based on grilled and roasted red meats. It has fruity aromas, especially small red fruits, along with notes of undergrowth and a slight spiciness characterize the nose. Fresh with light sapidity, and pleasant soft tannins on the palate.
