Located in San Patricio del Chañar in Neuquén Province, Bodega Malma was born from a pioneering winemaking project at the southern edge of Argentina, quickly earning acclaim for its high-quality wines. Founded in 2004 and run by the Viola family, the winery is fuelled by a deep passion for Patagonia and its distinctive terroirs. In collaboration with consulting enologist Hans Vinding-Diers, Bodega Malma has carefully crafted its portfolio while exploring the potential of each micro-terroir for different grape varieties. Guided by a philosophy of sharing Patagonia with the world, the winery brings the region’s unique character to life in every bottle.
The Chacra La Papay collection showcases Bodega Malma’s commitment to producing expressive, approachable wines that deliver both quality and a strong sense of place. Sourced from vineyards in Argentina’s southern reaches at approximately 39° south latitude, the grapes benefit from a continental climate marked by warm days, cool nights, low humidity, persistent winds, and free-draining soils. These conditions encourage gradual ripening and the development of concentrated flavours and aromas. Following hand harvesting, the fruit is gently pressed and aged for nine months in seasoned French and American oak barrels.
The Chacra La Papay Malbec offers vibrant fruit character with aromas of ripe red berries complemented by delicate floral notes and subtle hints of vanilla. Smooth and approachable on the palate, it features soft tannins, balanced freshness, and an easy-drinking profile that is both enjoyable and effortlessly accessible.
Excellent with pasta dishes, beef, or strong cheeses.
