                  Raised amidst the vineyards, Alexandre Favier is part of a long line of winemakers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. His grandfather, Noël Sabon, hails from one of the region’s most renowned winemaking families. Alexandre began his viticultural studies at the age of fifteen in Orange, completing his exams by 2001. Just a year later, at the age of twenty, he assumed full winemaking responsibilities at Domaine Chante Cigale when his father’s health declined. Today, Domaine Chante Cigale stands as one of the most important family estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

                  Extrait consists of 50% Roussanne and 50% Grenache Blanc. The Roussanne for Extrait comes from a very specific plot and the vines are over 40 years old. For a wine this unctuous and textured, the palate shows remarkable balance and freshness. Aromas of apricot, peach and citrus are complemented by some perfumed florals and well integrated, savoury oak. The finish is incredibly long and fresh.

                  Based on 50% Grenache Blanc and 50% Roussanne from the galets roulés of Cabrières and Palestor, the 2024 Châteauneuf Du Pape Extrait Blanc was vinified half in demi-muids and half in concrete tanks, then aged 10 months in the same vessels. It offers brilliant aromatics of white peach and stone fruits with a richer, layered, medium-bodied style. The wine has beautiful acidity, a pure, focused, elegant mouthfeel, and outstanding length. This absolutely brilliant white will have 20 years or more of overall longevity. There are a scant 100 cases produced. Drink 2025-2045.

                  Founded in 2003 as one of the earliest wineries on the Naramata Bench, JoieFarm has grown from restaurant roots into a celebrated destination, with a tasting room opened in 2015 and the En Famille Wine Club launched in 2020.                   This classic Noble Blend opens with lifted aromas of rose petals and sun-ripened orchard fruit. Bright and layered on the palate, it reveals notes of Golden Delicious apple, lime, and lychee, accented by a gentle thread of warming spice.                   Aromatic is the ways of Alsatian white blends, noble and arguably more Edelzwicker than Gentil. Alsace is a place where historically the grape variety is highlighted on the label, more so than the region, but these blends transform that thought. Noble follows that particular tradition with this blend celebrating growers and the places they farm. Comes together just a shade above bone dry, layered with citrus and a side of creamy orchard fruit, from riesling with gewürztraminer, ehrenfelser, oraniensteiner & pinot gris. Profoundly important for B.C. white wine, essential and appropriate, for wherever and whenever a bottle needs sharing. Drink 2026-2029. Tasted May 2026.
