Strawberries, raspberries, raw mushrooms and lemon leaves on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, crunchy and bright, with tasty berry fruit and lightly grippy tannins. Try from 2024.

Three indigenous varieties get together and Oenops just seems to be the master Drama blender to tie them all together. They being xinomavro, limniona and mavroudi come one, come all for the easiest access in northeastern (Macedonian) Greek reds. The 2021 gifted ease, simplicity and apt resourcefulness but this ’22 moves forward, ahead and into another space. Perhaps a step towards rapture with the vintage lens opening and allowing more light, the truss of fruits all sharing the same even levelled platform. More layers to peel away, acids in synch and a spice masala marking territory at every step. Complexity is a beautiful thing when clarity, purity and focus are all aligned. Drink 2024-2027.
