Founded in 2014 around a dining table at Norwood’s Queen Street, C.W. Wines has grown from humble beginnings into one of Australia’s most successful family-owned wine businesses. With a portfolio spanning the Limestone Coast, McLaren Vale, and the Barossa, their vineyards and sourced fruit cover a wide range of beloved varietals, all processed at their state-of-the-art Stonehaven Winery. Originally built by Constellation Brands in the late 90s, the facility was acquired by C.W. Wines in 2021, where a host of distinctive labels, each exceptionally crafted to showcase the diversity of the South's regions and the full breadth of what Aussie wines have to offer.

Thompson Steer draws its name from the winding lakes and gently rolling fields that surround its vineyards in the country town of Mundulla where its grapes are grown. 

The Limestone Coast Cab opens with fragrant aromas of ripe cassis, dark plum, and black cherry, layered with hints of cedar and fresh mint that add a cooling lift. Full-bodied, it features rounded, blossoming tannins and balanced acidity, while the liqueur-like fruit is refined by oak aging, enhancing structure and depth without being overpowering. The finish is long and resonant, with sappy fruit framed by subtle notes of cocoa powder and dried tobacco.

Phantom Creek Estates, located on the renowned Black Sage Bench in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, is celebrated for its single-vineyard Bordeaux reds, expressive Alsace-inspired whites, and the region’s signature Viognier and Syrah. Founded by Richter Bai with the acquisition of the famed Becker and Phantom Creek Vineyards in 2016, the estate combines a passion for Bordeaux-style wines with a commitment to excellence. First recorded in the 9th century as “in Montelio” in the Cartulary of Saint-Symphorien of Autun—meaning “on the small mountain”—the village’s history is deeply rooted in its landscape. The “Les Champs Fulliot” parcel, once home to quarries and open fields, takes its name from the Old French feuille (leaf) and bois foudre (thicket), evoking its natural origins.

From this warm vintage, the 1er Cru shows a colour of notable vibrancy and depth. The nose is expressive and inviting, led by plush black-skinned fruits and fragrant wildflowers. The 'Les Petites Lolières' vineyard lies on a path that descends from the Combe des Buis towards the source of the Lauve River. Legend has it that this path was once used by wolves who came to drink there.

Located between Beaune and Volnay in the Côte de Beaune, and often referred to as “the flower of Beaunois wines,” Pommard has long embodied the essence of Burgundy, remaining steadfast and true to its character over the centuries.

Within the commune of Auxey-Duresses, the climat Le Val—meaning “valley” or “hollow”—denotes the narrow depression that extends from the Côte de Beaune into the Hautes Côtes.

Le Val 2020 shows a warm garnet hue and an inviting aromatic profile that gently unfolds in the glass, revealing rose petal florals with bright cherry and plum highlights. The Savigny-lès-Beaune commune, one of the largest wine-growing villages in the Côte d'Or, boasts a rich and fascinating history. The term 'Les Guettotes', which lends itself as name to the Lieu-dit, dates back to the medieval period, referring to the lookout points once used to survey the countryside and protect travellers passing through the area.

The grapes for this wine come from a small, enclosed plot of approximately 1 hectare on a south-facing hillside. Brilliant ruby in colour, it offers an enticing bouquet of cherries and red currant, with subtle savoury nuances that support the ripeness of the fruit. Medium-weight yet powerful, the tannins are polished but present, while zesty acidity shapes the palate and balances the sweet fruit. The finish is long, leaving resounding notes of dried fruit and tea leaves.

Bodega Bideona represents a new generation of Rioja wines, defined by the precise origin of their grapes rather than winemaking techniques. Its 282 small vineyard plots, averaging 0.3 hectares and over 50 years old, include vines planted between 1920 and 1960, reflecting a unique cultural and biological heritage. The Bideona Village-Wine range highlights the distinct character of Rioja Alavesa’s wine-growing villages, a nuance often lost during the industrialization of Rioja, when blending and technique overshadowed origin. These wines restore the importance of village identity, allowing each bottle to express the place it comes from.

Leza, a small village at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria mountains, is home to vineyards planted in the first half of the 20th century. Situated at 580–610 meters above sea level, these vines offer a rare varietal and clonal complexity. The wine is structured and slow-ripening, shaped by the influence of altitude and the mountains. It reveals dark fruit flavours with an exotic, almost apothecary-like undertone, combining muscular structure with exceptional freshness and balance.

Cuvée Heritage is the third vintage of our flagship red blend, but the first called Heritage – in homage to Ilya & Nadia’s Ukrainian heritage, and with an intention of building a heritage of tremendous red blends at Leaning Post. 

Powerful & Juicy

Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara.

The 2020 vintage of our Merlot captures the essence of a warm year in the cool-climate terroir of the Niagara Lakeshore. This sub-appellation’s proximity to Lake Ontario tempers the summer heat, preserving fresh acidity and allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly.

For pairing this Merlot, think: roast turkey, beef short rib, or a rustic ratatouille! For braised meat pairings, try complementing Merlot’s boisterous fruit notes with chimichurri sauce.  

Earthy & Peppery

Lighthall Vineyards is a small, proud, low volume and high quality winery located in enchanting Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. All their wines are produced in a non-interventionist manner and fuelled by passion as hearty as our vines. They also make cheese, designed to pair with their wines.

Those looking for brooding dark fruit, eucalyptus, and pure pleasure in their red wine – look no further. This Cabernet Franc brings an intensity reminiscent of black cherry twizzler, menthol, cola, and blackberry panna cotta. Tannic yet easy drinking, this wine is fantastic with roasted chicken, venison, and rack of lamb.

Roast chicken with vincotto, charcuterie (especially paté and terrines), game meats (peking duck, roasted quail, pheasant), grilled lamb, venison, beef kofta, and shawarma are all delightful protein choices. Mild blue cheese, crottin (or Lighthall’s own Milford Reef), ratatouille, gratin dauphinois, and hearty soups with beans make good options for those seeking lighter fare.

Spicy & Earthy

The depth of this wine was structured by the warm, but not hot summer and autumn. Leaning Post believes this is the best Gamay they have made to date! The terroir of Wismer-Armbrust Vineyard really shines through, with loads of garrigue, spice and leather, with intense blackberry, cherry and pepper on the nose. The mouth is complimentary showing mulberry, pomegranate, lilac, smoked sausage and fennel seed. The finish is fantastically long and smooth.
