Rich & Juicy

A wine from a collaboration between Nicholas Pearce and Will Predhomme to create wines from their favourite regions. This Pinot Noir is made from vines planted in the Yamhill Carlton, Oregon.

While labeled as Willamette Valley for consistency, all of the fruit was sourced from two two prime vineyards in the Dundee Hills AVA; 65% Dundee Cove Vineyard and roughly 35% from the Niederberger Vineyard, both noted for their altitude, exposure and red, volcanic Jory soils.

Every vintage brings new opportunities and challenges and 2020 did not disappoint in that regard. Adversity presented itself in various forms throughout the year and kept growers and winemakers on their toes. Moving through winter and spring, daytime temperatures in general were moderately warm and followed up with cool evenings. For comparison, the growing degree days experienced in 2020 were similar to that of 2006, 2013, & 2018. The moderate temperatures led the vines to focus more on the complexity and flavours of the grapes. So, while overall yields were down, the quality of the vintage produced exceptional whites and elegant, nuanced Pinot Noirs.

Aromas of fresh raspberry and bing cherry with subtle undertones of forest floor. The palate fresh and shows notes of baking spices. A beautiful balance of lift and elegance, while still being extremely well structure and complex.

Pinot Noir is very versatile to pair. This wine will go well with fish like salmon and is also delicious with duck confit and other roast meats and mushrooms.

Here's a quite delicious, complex, almost swarthy pinot with a sense of what I like to call vinosity - a sort of coming to together of many elements in a way that is generous and complete. Which makes it more difficult to deconstruct. Here the fruit is in the cran-cherry realm with woodsy, spicy, floral and vanillins evenly distributed. It is medium weight, rounded and smooth but not at all soft. Alcohol is a bit enlarged and warming, tannins are quite mellow. But overall there is a great sense of structure and the length is excellent. Tasted November 2021

This is quite a rich purplish red pinot with a fragrant nose of raspberry and rhubarb fruit with soft oak spice and floral notes. The palate is midweight and firm with fine balancing acidity and mature tannin. A long lingering dry finish still has lots of fruit. Well structured and finely balanced with excellent length. Classy and well made for a good price. Tasted November 2021.
