Bodegas Exopto was founded in 2003 by Tom Puyaubert, with the intention of recovering old vineyards on the slopes of the Sierra Cantabria and Monte Yerga mountains.  These wines express the multitude of terroirs that make up the Rioja DOCa using sustainable and environmentally friendly viticulture.

This wine has very special sentimental value to the winery since it is the first vineyard to be planted in the town of Abalos in 1920, next to the 100-year-old vineyards of La Mimbrera-Coupage Tradicional. The idea was to develop a 100% Graciano wine, at high density (5,000 feet/ha) in an Atlantic context: Rioja Alta, limestone clay soils at 450 m altitude.

Deep, inky colour in the glass with abundant notes of sweet spices and mediterranean herbs alongside ripe black and blue fruits. Medium weight on the palate with a fine bead of acidity that cuts through the spicy, fragrant flavours and carries them into the long, fresh finish.

This is a winner alongside game dishes or grilled fish.

Precise, peppery nose with blackberries, blueberries and hints of violet and white pepper. Tangy and chalky on the palate with a medium to full body where the tannins snatch up the fresh blue fruit and spread them evenly across the palate. Structured and chalky finish with excellent length. Drink or hold.
