Big & Bold

Cordero Mario marks the return of one of Barolo's most storied winemaking families to their roots in Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Langhe. Mario Cordero set out to build a new winery close to the family's original vineyards. Guided by his decades of experience shaping modern Barolo, Cordero Mario carries forward the family's deep respect for terroir into a new generation of wines. The estate farms 11 hectares of organically-managed vineyards, focusing on minimal intervention with hand- harvesting, partial whole-bunch fermentation and ageing in French oak tonneaux to build structure while preserving freshness.

Intense and bright ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses itself with fruity hints of small
red fruits and floral notes of rose and violet, with a light and delicate spiciness. On the
palate, it is fresh yet intense, with pleasant and soft tannins.

Pair with braised beef, a meat ragu sauce, or mushroom-based dishes.

About the Winery

Cordero Mario

Cordero Mario marks the return of one of the most storied families in Barolo's winemaking history, led by Francesco, Lorenzo, and Caterina Cordero—the grandchildren of Luciana Vietti and Alfredo Currado. With roots deeply embedded in the prestigious Vietti Winery, where their father, Mario Cordero, dedicated his life to pioneering modern Barolo, the Cordero siblings have embarked on a journey back to their origins in the Langhe region of Piedmont.
