Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara.

A blend of fruit from 4 different vineyards from the best appellations across Niagara, the 2023 Pinot Noir is the epitome of the Leaning Post style. 2023 was a cool and elongated growing season, and yields were average, making wines of exceptional concentration and acidity. This wine combines classic “P(inot)- funk” flavours of cherry, mulberry, and raspberry with candy-cane beets, earth, leaves and stone. Made in a style that is slightly more approachable than our single-vineyard Pinots, it still shows incredible depth and complexity. The palate in particular shows good fullness and silkiness in the mouth with kirsch married to sugar beet wrapped in fresh basil smashed over limestones! Traces of spice lift the back end of the wonderfully long finish.  The 2023 needs a lot of air, so give it a good decant before
enjoying. This wine will age gracefully for 5-7 years.

Pair this Pinot Noir with smoky glazed ham or easy lentil curry.

92 points - Rick VanSickle

This Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from three different vineyards from favourite appellations across Niagara. After being transferred to French oak barrels (25% new, 25% 1-year-old barrels, 50% older barrels) the wine is aged for 15 months. The nose shows a generous array of red berries, floral notes, earth and perfumed spice notes. It’s rich and savoury on the palate with brambly raspberries, ripe cherries, strawberries, tobacco, and spice on a silky-smooth finish that’s long and lifted.
