Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer and pioneer in the Burgundy winemaking scene. He grew up in a family dedicated to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's. The Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of carefully cultivated and versatile wines, often made from old vines. All of the Maison wines are made with respect to sustainable and natural farming practices, with as little intervention as necessary to showcase their individual terroirs.

Located just outside the town of Saint Aubin, Les Frionnes is a small 3ha premier cru vineyard facing southeast. The grapes are on average 29 years old, planted in in clay & limestone soil. This is an engaging expression of Chardonnay that reveals zesty citrus acidity and flavours along side orchard fruit and leesy notes and texture.

A great match for fish fritters with coleslaw or roasted veggies.

94 Points - David Lawrason

This pours vivid lemon yellow. It has somewhat reserved yet rich nose of pineapple, marzipan, fine bread crust/lees, yellow flowers and a touch of honey. It is medium-full bodied, voluminous and broad yet anchored on excellent acidity, intensity, warmth and minerality. Very complete and powerful. Best now to 2030. Tasted January 2023
