Ophir Bridge is the secondary label from McArthur Ridge in Central Otago’s Alexandra Valley, a region shaped by old vines rooted in the late 1800s and nourished by pure glacial-fed water. Planted across gentle northern slopes on an elevated plateau, the vines flourish in the warmth of the Central Otago sun. Brassknocker soils and pristine waters give the wines a true sense of place, reflecting the region’s distinctive character with elegance and depth.
This wine shows an expressive, refined nose of red cherries, raspberries, and cranberries, lifted by violet florals and a hint of clove spice. Medium-bodied on the palate, it offers soft tannins and well-integrated acidity, with juicy red fruit, subtle oak, and gentle earthy notes. The finish is long and elegant, leaving lingering impressions of fruit and spice.
Perfect with duck or herb-crusted chicken.
Rich and enticing, the inviting bouquet shows dark plum, raspberry, floral, almond and warm spice aromas. The palate is equally appealing with excellent weight and ripe fruit intensity, wonderfully framed by silky texture and polished tannins. Tasted from tank sample. At its best: now to 2029.
