Zesty & Mineral

Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara. 

This Riesling shows why we get so excited about Riesling from Lincoln Lakeshore! The nose explodes with beautiful apricot-pith, peach-cobbler, lime-leaf, cardamom, and honey aromas. Those flavours continue on the palate while adding lemon-rind, honeycomb, elderflower and the distinctive stony minerality. This is a classically mid-weight Riesling but has lovely full texture, coming both from the vineyards and the lees aging. As the wine sweeps across the palate towards the finish, the balance of sweet and salty is sublime, with a bright green leafiness and flinty/minerally sensation appearing in waves, leading to an amazing, crunchy finish. The wine will age well for the next decade.

The best pairings for this Riesling include poached salmon, roasted chicken, ham, and veal or pork scallopini.

Lubanzi is a socially driven South African wine company founded in 2014, inspired by a backpacking journey along the country’s remote Wild Coast. The brand is named after a wandering dog that accompanied the founders for six days and nearly 100 miles of the trek—an experience that sparked the idea to share South Africa’s culture, landscapes, and wines with a global audience.

Working with respected winemaking partners including Trizanne Barnard and Bruce Jack, Lubanzi produces expressive wines that reflect the country’s diverse terroirs. The company also maintains a strong commitment to social impact, partnering with the Pebbles Project to support health and education initiatives for families living and working on South Africa’s wine farms.

In tribute to South Africa’s rich jazz heritage, the bottle features the artwork of the acclaimed album Indaba Is—a vibrant celebration of contemporary South African jazz released in 2021 by London indie label Brownswood Recordings. Curated by pianist and songwriter Thandi Ntuli and Siyabonga Mthembu, the project brings together 52 musicians in a powerful reflection of the diversity, energy, and spirit of South African jazz.

The nose opens with lifted notes of green herbs and tea leaves before unfolding into a soft, textural palate layered with sundried peach, apricot, almond skin, and ripe satsuma.

The Leithaberg Chardonnay is a mineral-driven wine, shaped by limestone and slate soils and aged 17 months in large wooden casks with spontaneous fermentation. It opens with aromas of minerality, citrus, lemon balm, stone fruit, and subtle earthy herbal notes. The palate is taut and structured, with firm acidity, a creamy texture, and a lightly phenolic grip, leading to a saline, herbaceous finish. Focused and restrained, it showcases elegance, precision, and a clear expression of its terroir.

The Weisze Freyheit is a distinctive blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc from Lake Neusiedl, showcasing a bold, modern skin-contact style with notable depth and structure. It opens with complex aromas of dried herbs, roasted nuts, brioche, and subtle mineral tones, layered with hints of orchard fruit and citrus blossom. On the palate, it is taut with a firm, slightly bitter grip, balanced by a juicy core and a lingering herbal, nutty finish. Overall, it is an uncompromising, intellectually engaging wine with a strong sense of character and precision.

Fresh & Juicy

Cheerfully juicy. This amber-coloured potion spreads its aromas around in a manner that’s equally expressive and unobtrusive… This wine can indeed call itself ‘orange’, though far more delicate and tender than the buzzword ‘orange’ might suggest.

The Heinrich Naked Orange is an approachable wine that pairs well with Salmon tartare with pickled raspberries, couscous salad with feta and cranberry, toasted sourdough bread with avocado.

Built in the 15th century, the Château de la Grange "Barbastre" belonged to the Basbastre family, Lord of the Grange, until the end of the 16th century. The property passed to the de Goulaine family in 1777. Thanks to the estate's closeness to the Lac de Grand Lieu and the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, it enjoys a micro-climate which is unique to the Côtes de Grandlieu area and offers good growing conditions for Melon B., the Muscadet grape

Planted on slopes facing southeast, this Muscadet Côtes de Grand Lieu sur Lie is produced from the old vines of the estate (more than 40 years old). The nose is elegant with hints of white flowers, lemon zest, ginger and salty minerality. Left on the lees (sur lie) for an extended period of time to develop a beautiful creamy texture balanced out by bracing acidity.

Founded in 2008 by Kiwi friends Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron, Invivo has grown into one of New Zealand's leading wine producers. In 2011, a spontaneous phone call led to a unique partnership with TV host Graham Norton, who not only lends his name to a range of wines but personally blends them and owns shares in the winery. Over the past decade, the collaboration has expanded to include seven wines and four spirits, selling over 18 million bottles globally. With more than 250 awards, it's no surprise that Invivo has become such a worldwide success.

Invivo launched its partnership with Graham Norton in 2014 with a this very Sauvignon Blanc, inspired by his love of the style. The collaboration has since expanded into an award-winning range of wines and spirits enjoyed across ten countries. As an Invivo shareholder, Graham remains actively involved, personally tasting and blending each new vintage with the team.

Leading with freshly cut honeydew melon and bright lemon zest, opening generously in the glass. The palate follows with layered citrus and stone-fruit flavours, accented by a subtle hint of freshly cut bell pepper. Tangy and refreshing all the way to the last sip! 

Waxy & Floral

One of Lighthall's most aromatic wines, this off-dry Riesling is bursting with kiwi, starfruit, nectarine, and a lovely bouquet of white flowers. The classic Jolly-Rancher and crisp green apple punch follows through on the palate with vivacious acidity. Pairs
excellently with spicy south-Asian cuisine, curries, and tacos.

With the little touch of residual sugar in the wine, it makes a great match for foods
with a bit of heat. Spicy curries, Guaitiao (Thai noodle soup), Shrimp with noodles,
or Chicken Masala with mango chutney for example. Leaner white fish like bass,
pickerel, red snapper served with a fresh salad of greens with citrus segments makes a
great summertime match. Creamy fresh cheeses like Brie, Camembert, or Crottin all
are great, while classic Germanic foods like weisswurst, pretzels, and spaetzle also
work well.
