The vineyards of Fattoria di Sammontana are located along the hills that border the Arno River, 20km to the south west of Florence. Today, the family - now in its fourth generation - runs the farm according to organic and biodynamic practices, with the intent to fully preserve and sustain the traditions and winemaking history of the land.

In the language of potters, “Primo Fuoco” is the initial clay firing that leads to the creation of terracotta (with a second and a third firing you get different types of ceramic and majolica). This wine is fermented naturally and matured in a large terracotta amphora, hand made from local red clay (“terra rossa”).

On the nose, Primo Fuoco Rosso is floral and fruity. The notes of cherry dominate with a mineral touch that is almost flinty. The palette is long and lucious.

Perfect with white and red meats, as well as with aperitivo, such as quiche and hard cheeses.

Proudly family owned, the Borthwick vineyard is an established vineyard situated in Gladstone, the heart of the Wairarapa. Producing quality wine for over a decade, Paddy, an experienced wine maker, has gained a reputation for producing consistently great wines. The twenty seven hectares of vines bordering the Ruamahunga River are growing on stony, free draining, alluvial soils, with a micro climate giving warm daily temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall; perfect conditions for producing distinctive, quality wines.

In 1971 Véronique Guibert de la Vaissière and her husband Aimé fell under the spell of an old abandoned farmhouse in the Gassac valley, near the old abbey of Aniane, in the hinterland of the Hérault and Mas de Daumas Gassac was born. 

In the early 90s, the Guibert family took on a new challenge: to create a more accessible wine collection. The fortuitous discovery of great terroirs on the amphitheatre site of Villeveyrac in the Hérault, gave rise to an unprecedented partnership with the winegrowers of the Villeveyrac cellar - a partnership that continues to this day. From then on, the Mas de Daumas Gassac and Moulin de Gassac families joined forces and created a parcel selection involving some thirty winegrowers.

This easy-going red offers aromas of dark cherries and currents with layers of baked earth and sweet spices woven in between. The bright fruit and peppery spices cascade over the medium-weighted palate and are supported by creamy tannins giving way to a soft-textured, approachable wine.

Christian Bamberger winery is located in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. The Bamberger family has been practicing viticulture since 1658 and Christian is now the 14th generation. After an internship in Napa Valley, studies at the University of California in Davis and a degree in business administration at the University of Mainz, he returned to his parents' winery in 2004 and has been running the business since 2007. 

This Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) estate wine from Christian Bamberger shows an intense aroma of currants, blackberries and cherries underlaid with coffee and chocolate and delicate spicy notes of cloves, cinnamon, roasted almonds and violets. On the palate, it is fleshy and juicy with pleasantly soft tannins. Dense fruit, fine flavour and the perfectly coordinated use of wood make this Pinot Noir a very elegant, versatile wine that lingers for a long time.

We recommend to pair with grilled miso salmon with wild mushrooms, smoked ham or your favourite pizza.

Château Méjean is a young winery in Bordeaux covering 8.2 hectares of vines at the gates of the Pessac-Léognan region. In 1999 the new owner and founder, Bruno Geraud, began to plant Merlot and Cabernet grapes and has managed to increase the size of the vineyards over time, with additional replanting efforts carried out in 2002. The estate practices self-sustaining farming techniques and the vines benefit from an exceptional terroir on clay, gravel and silica soils.

Pouring a beautiful shade of ruby in the glass, the bouquet opens up with inviting fruit aromas of black currants and bramble berries peppered with whiffs of vanilla and toasted spices. Supple on the palate, offering elegant tannins that seamlessly melt into the spiced fruits and tobacco notes. The aging is balanced between new and first-fill barrels and stainless steel vats, lasting between 12 and 18 months in order to achieve a complex and well rounded profile. Showing nicely now but will also reward further ageing.

This wine is best served with all types of roasted, braised, and grilled meat dishes including veal, beef or lamb.

After settling in South Africa in 1990, Argentinian-born Billy Hughes was inspired to start his own wine venture in the Cape. After learning the ropes of viticulture and winemaking on his own, he and his late wife Penny bought an old wheat farm in Malmesbury, near Cape Town in the year 2000. Now, more than two decades after its inception, Nativo Wines continues to explore innovative and sustainable ways of making wine. The last few years has seen the addition of some single varietal wines to their range and the design of some one-of-a-kind cellar equipment.

The name Nativo encompasses allusions to Billy’s native origins, his progress to becoming a naturalised South African and desire to produce wines that are reflective of their origin, infused with site-specific characteristics.

An elegant Swartland blend with aromas of small red berries, bramble and anise, complemented by distinctive mineral overtones. The palate offers a silky mouthfeel and a gentle finish propped up by ripe tannins. Juicy and medium-bodied with generous fruit flavours balanced by keen acidity.

Unlike many winemakers, Frederic Brouca is largely self-taught and took no formal courses on viticulture or winemaking.  His concept of growing grapes and winemaking focuses on reducing human intervention in the processes, and making it as natural as possible.

This Foulage Gaulois Rouge is Brouca's first Pinot Noir. It comes from a single vineyard in St. Chinian, Languedoc; and it has been aged in a mix of amphora and stainless steel.

Subtle aromas of cranberry and sweet cherry. Floral and spicy. Medium-bodied with ripe tannins and acidity to keep it alive. Structured and textured. Perfumed rather than overpowering.

Named for the humble garage that served as their initial base of operations, Garage Wine Co. was started in 2001 by home grown Canadian, Derek Mossman, his wife Pilar Miranda & their friend Alvaro Peña. As a first-generation cellar, the wine making project grew through the team's work with small farmers, deeply connected to traditional farming communities & practices left behind by the mainstream wine business. Today, they continue to revive old vineyards across a veritable mosaic of parcels amongst the Maule Valley and Itata. With a precise focus on small lots, regenerative agriculture and explorative vinification, the wines have become some of Chile's most highly coveted and sought-after bottles.

The grapes used for this wine come from the Truquilemu Vineyard - or 'Truqui' as she is lovingly called. This site has been rented long-term and worked according to old-school methods; by hand and horse with the same patience and care that many generations of curators have shown these vines over the years.

Made from a field blend Carignan with splashes of País and Syrah, this vintage shows a touch more tannin than its predecessor along with beautifully layered fruit that blooms with time in the glass. Medium-weighted on the palate and notes of lavender and violet florals are carefully weft between red berry fruits and tart cranberry freshness. The 2019 vintage will age 5-10 years effortlessly, but this wine is becoming more drinkable in its youth.

This was meant to be a small project focused on the production of Dolcetto from the famous Dogliani area, however, the friend's passion and respect for wine and its cultural tradition in the region pushed them to expand shortly after inception. Along with Dolcetto, they craft Barbera, Nebbiolo and even Barolo from vineyards located in Monforte d’Alba. With the help of their families, and generous advice from wise producers, they were able to fulfill their dream of making classic wines of Piedmont.

The wines are shaped under a guiding, shared philosophy. Manual work for absolute care of each grapevine; wine let to age in barrels made with only the best oak; and daily barrel sampling to learn and engage in the wine's evolution.

Opening up with aromas of small dark berries and plums complimented by lingering scents of cracked black pepper and notes of heather. Scents of red cherries and wild strawberries unwind at the onset, giving way to hints of undergrowth and dried lavender. Radford Dale is one of South Africa’s leading independent Wineries. Based on the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch, the winery specializes in producing site-specific, natural wines.

 Pinotage is a relative newcomer to Radford Dale (their first release came in 2011), yet the varietal has become an integral part of what they do. Simply put, they are looking for purity of fruit and freshness in our expressions.

The grapes for this wine are predominantly from a vineyard located in the northern part of the Stellenbosch region and a quarter of a century old. Their primary objective with this wine was to wild ferment, importantly leading with carbonic maceration, so as to unlock and reveal the hidden side of Pinotage. This whole berry, natural fermentation took place in open-top, 600L oak demi-muids, for a very soft extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. No new oak was used as they wanted the wine to exhibit its freshness while adding texture and complexity.

Raspberry and redcurrant fruit aromas with both intensity and freshness. The palate is bright, vibrant, focused with wild cherry and plum fruit complemented by savoury herbs and spices.  You can tell this wine has been made in the vineyard and guided with a most gentle hand in the cellar. It shows purity, freshness with superb drinkability and balance.

Lighthall Vineyards is a small, proud, low volume and high quality winery located in enchanting Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. Domaine André Aubert, has been formed over decades and generations by one very passionate wine family and today comprises of more than 280 hectares spread from north to south of the prestigious Southern Rhone Valley on the appellations Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône villages, Visan, and Grignan-les-Adhémar. The Château Le Grand Retour property was purchased in 1999.

Château le Grand Retour is situated in the Plan de Dieu AOC. This geographical area is overflowing with very important pebbles left behind by the Rhône River from millennia ago. As the Aubert family says, this vineyard allows the vines to 'drink the sun and live on stones.'

A sumptuous blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre with rich fruit aromas of black cherry and raspberry. Notes of licorice and spice dominate the full-bodied palate and lead to a well-balanced and complex finish. This wine punches above it's weight in every class!

The Carbone family, based in Melfi near Mount Vulture in the heart of Basilicata, values their unique terroir which is rich in volcanic soil. Situated on the slopes of the ancient volcano, their vineyards benefit from an ideal aspect. Coupled with an optimal microclimate that's marked by significant temperature variations, this setting imbues Aglianico with its unique character that's deeply rooted in the region. Luca and Sara have carried on the winemaking tradition since 1974, prioritizing continuity and terroir expression. Their philosophy centres on the fertile land of Mount Vulture, respecting organic vineyard rhythms and employing modern cellar techniques to maintain the wine's character. Teaming up with oenologist Sergio Paternoster, they create authentic wines that mirror the region's history and vibrant essence.

Aglianico is a wonderful grape variety – sometimes referred to as the 'Nebbiolo of the South'. This rendition exudes fragrant herbal notes, sweet & savoury spices and hints of dried black fruits. Robust and full-bodied on the palate, the tannins maintain their classic firmness but are finely polished, complemented by well-judged acidity. In addition to the baked fruits, there's a subtle smoky black tapenade nuance that enhances the fruit character. The wine concludes with remarkable length, underscoring its complexity and hidden gem status.

While showing nicely now, this style may benefit from moderate aeration before drinking. The big tannic structure will be a solid match with mature, firm cheeses and roasts or braised meats. Hardy's constructed the Stonehaven Winery in 1998 with the purpose of showcasing the distinct qualities of the Limestone Coast region in Southern Australia. Following Hardy's acquisition by Constellation and subsequent brand expansion, the winery fell into dormancy after being sold. In early 2021, C.W. Wines acquired both the Stonehaven winery and brand, subsequently reintroducing the Stonehaven label to the market. The Tomich family hails from the Adriatic Coast in Croatia where winemaking is a way of life. Jack Tomich Senior arrived in Australia in 1903, bringing with him all of the grape growing and winemaking skills of his forefathers. The family had always made their own wine for the family and grew sultanas and wine grapes after moving to the new irrigation settlement of Mildura in 1936. Jack’s son Ivan showed a real passion for wine, and by 1946 was producing and selling to local farmers. Three generations of grape growers and winemakers later, the Tomich family now owns one of the best sites in the Adelaide Hills and has kept its ancestral way of softly farming the land while advocating for regenerative growing practices.

Located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, Westmount’s namesake vineyard has over 100 planted acres and over 110,000 vines. Casa Los Frailes is named after the Jesuit Friar Order, who resided in the house from the 16th to the 18th century. They crafted wine using traditional methods, utilizing large clay amphoras and concrete tanks. The winery, which has been under continuous family ownership since 1771, now boasts a 162-acre organic/biodynamic estate with a distinctive terroir. Situated at a high altitude of 650-700 meters above sea level, the vineyards adhere to strict dry farming practices. With vines aged over 80 years, the estate's soil is notably calcareous, influenced by the nearby Mediterranean Sea. Through their commitment to honouring their origins and maintaining a deep reverence for nature, Los Frailes produces genuine and unadulterated wines that encapsulate a profound heritage and bond with the land the family has called home for centuries. 

The second indigenous grape variety of Els Alforins Valley, after Monastrell, is Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet). The focus of this wine was to explore the maritime character of the grape, seeking soils that preserve its freshness and acidity. To preserve its unique character, the winemaking process mirrored the traditional methods used by the Friars at the estate. 

This exclusive vineyard offering reveals luxuriant aromas, showcasing dried fruits alongside spiced plums and blueberries. Its palate is robust and tantalizing, delivering luscious flavours and refined tannins leading to a delectable finish highlighted by black and blue fruits, complemented by a subtle touch of crushed stone minerality.

Thanks to its depth of flavour, this wine will be a great match for hearty dishes like beef stew, lamb tagine, or cassoulet.

Sparkling | Glera

This Prosecco has enticing scents of ripe orchard fruit, aromatic herb and fragrant white spring flower. The generous palate doles out juicy white peach, ripe Granny Smith apple and tangerine zest. Fresh acidity brightens the creamy flavours while an elegant mousse imparts finesse.

This wine is very food-friendly. It goes beautifully with antipasto and spicy Asian foods. In the Veneto region, Prosecco is usually paired with cured meats, which makes it the perfect wine to accompany a cheese and charcuterie board.

White | Pinot Grigio

This dry-farmed Friulian Pinot Grigio is different in style than its counterpart from Veneto. The wine wears a straw yellow robe with elegant copper-gold overtones. Its bouquet is elegant and intense, with hints of acacia flowers, dry hay, walnut kernel, yellow peach and golden apple, intertwined with fresh and mineral notes. On the palate, it promises a concentrated palate full of fragrant white peaches, tangerines, and a lively minerality.

A perfect casual sipper, or to complement antipasti, fried fish or vegetables and light pasta dishes.

White | Chardonnay

The Jeanne Marie label was created by David Gordon, one of New York’s first recognized sommeliers, and the person responsible for the Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning wine list at Manhattan’s famed Tribeca Grill restaurant. The restaurant opened in 1990 by restaurateur Drew Nieporent and actor Robert DeNiro.

Named for his wife, the “Jeanne Marie” line sources grapes from premier wine-growing regions in northern and central California. Their 2022 chardonnay comes from the Central Coast. It fermented in stainless steel (80%) and in barrel (20%) before aging for 10 months in oak. Medium-full bodied with balanced flavours of vanilla, orange blossom, pear and apple. Toasty oak adds to the long, silky finish.

Rosé | Mourvedre, Grenache, Syrah

This seductive rosé is a traditional blend of Grenache (50%), Syrah (40%) and Mourvèdre (10%). Beautifully pale in colour and soft in texture, this is probably the most fashionable vintage to date. Delicate aromas of raspberry, watermelon, citrus fruits & herbes de Provence flow from the glass. The flavours are fruity, dry and crisp with an elegant balance & structure. This is a serious rose at an accessible price.

Mas Carlot Rosé is the perfect rosé to pair with any summer time meal, including tapas and barbecue. It is also a great wine to enjoy with cheese boards or just on it's own at any time!

Red | Merlot

Bunches of Merlot grapes are sourced from the hillsides of St Bonnet sur Gironde in the south of the Charente Maritime, a sub-region near the Ocean, on the outskirts of Bordeaux. Emma embodies the purity of a natural wine, the commitment to sustainable viticulture, and the importance of the vine balance. Winemaking is naturally done without the use of sulphites. The wine boasts notes of black fruits and candied fruit. It is fruit-forward, full-bodied, with a beautiful length.

Red | Pais

'Revival' is a project that started during lockdown, and focuses on producing wine from previously-neglected old vines of Pais in the Maule, while at the same time supporting local farming communities. 

The wine was first offered for sale en primeur, which further contributed to financial security for both the growers and producer in the midst of the pandemic. We at Nicholas Pearce Wines supported the initiative and are proud the bring the wines to the Ontario market. Darker and more serious than many País out there with proper complexity and depth, ripe flavours and round tannins without ‘rusticity’. This is the character of the grape on granite soils made in small lots with focus.

Spicy & Volcanic

Juan Jesús, who is a 4th generation winemaker, founded Viñátigo in 1990 and has worked tirelessly since then identifying, recuperating the native grapes of the Canary Islands.

Listán Negro is a grape that Viñátigo cultivates in the mid-lands, in the north-west of Tenerife. This grape is a native grape variety of the Canary Islands, as it originated from a natural crossing between the grapes Listán Blanco and Negramoll, both brought by Portuguese and Andalusian settlers between the 15th and 18th centuries.The grapes are hand-harvested by mid- September and the wine ages in old barrels for three months. It’s a delightful and juicy red, with aromas of black pepper, dark fruits, and a strong mineral, volcanic character.

It's the perfect 'chatting' wine: gather with friends and uncork this juicy beauty. A good conversation with friends and a charcuterie board is the best pairing. It matches very well with traditional cuisine from the Canaries: fried rabbit marinated in spicy 'mojo rojo' sauce; or beef stew with boiled potatoes.

Juan Jesús Méndez is a proud native of Tenerife and the fourth generation of winegrowers. Driven by passion and love for his homeland, he has overseen Bodegas Viñátigo for almost thirty-five years. He has been studying and recovering the almost-extinct grape varieties that were brought to the Canary Islands by European settlers since the 15th century. He has made of Viñátigo a reference winery in the region.

1 bottle x Viñátigo Listán Blanco de Canarias 2023 White | Listán Blanco de Canarias

The grape Listán Blanco de Canarias was brought to the Canary Islands in the 18th century by the Andalusian conquers. Viñátigo cultivates it in the high-lands that sit at 500 meters of altitude.

The vines are trained in ‘parrales’, a training method inherited by the Portuguese community that settled on the northern part of the island back in the 15th century. These vertical structures adapt to the hills and ravines created by the last eruptions of Teide volcano towards the north of the island. This wine is very fresh and has a vibrant acidity. On the nose, it has fragrant aromas of fennel, dried fruits and fig tree leaves; as well as a distinct mineral quality that is a result of the volcanic soils.

1 bottle x Viñátigo Lomo de la Era 2022. White | Listán Blanco de Canarias

Lomo de la Era is an authentic expression of the winemaking tradition of northern Tenerife. The vineyards located in the Paraje de la Cruz Santa, cultivated with the traditional braided cord system, sit on young, stony volcanic soils, typical of this area. At an altitude of 500 meters above sea level and with a very direct influence of the trade winds, this wine captures the essence of its place of origin.

Pre-fermentative oxidation. Not controlled-temperature fermentation. Fermented and aged for nine months in concrete vessels. No racking.

Pino Valois is a place of old vineyards in parral located in the highlands of the town of Icod de Los Vinos, northwest of the island of Tenerife. It is a unique area, traditionally known for its old vine crops on vines. Strongly influenced by the Portuguese and Galician colonizers who arrived in this area of the island in the 16th century.
Whole clusters go in the press, and sit there for 2 hours before pressing. Fermentation happens at 18/19 degrees. Aged for five months with fine lees.

Negramoll is Canary Island's most delicate red variety. It's thin skin and big berries yield wines that are light bodied but have very powerful aromatics. The ungrafted vines grow near the Ocean, around 300 meters above sea level. The wine is aged for six months in neutral barrels. The delicate aromas of red berry fruits are accompanied by an intriguing wisp of toffee and a powerful yet subtle volcanic minerality. A smooth and rounded palate shows polished tannins and a gentle, pleasant finish.

Made with Listán Negro cultivated in the highest part of Pino Valois plot. Pino Valois is a vineyard located in the highlands of Icod de los Vinos, in the northwest of Tenerife. The volcanic soils in this area are the youngest soils in Tenerife, which have resulted from the last eruption of Teide and other satellite volcanoes during the last 2,000 years. The base wine for this pét nat is the Pino Valois rosé. At the end of the fermentation, 1,000 liters are bottled and left aside for a year, with the top of the bottles pointing down.
