Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara.

The 2020 vintage of our Merlot captures the essence of a warm year in the cool-climate terroir of the Niagara Lakeshore. This sub-appellation’s proximity to Lake Ontario tempers the summer heat, preserving fresh acidity and allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly.

For pairing this Merlot, think: roast turkey, beef short rib, or a rustic ratatouille! For braised meat pairings, try complementing Merlot’s boisterous fruit notes with chimichurri sauce.  

Silky & Rich

Ca del Monte is situated on the hillsides overlooking the village of Negrar, in the heart of Valpolicella. This Ripasso shows a pure red-berry and black-cherry bouquet with notes of grilled herbs, iris, violet and almond. With a great depth of flavour, the wine is silky and warm with a surprisingly elegant mid-weight mouth feel that finishes with plump fruit and a well integrated spicy/oak kiss. 

Pair this rich wine with game meats, roast chicken, wood oven pizza and pasta with full flavoured sauces. ​It is also amazing when served with aged cheeses.

The Schild Family have been grape growers in the Barossa Valley since 1952. Growing the estate from one vineyard to over 134ha across 11 precious sites, their generational wisdom and knowledge of the land allows for premium fruit to flourish each vintage. Their Estate Wine label was created as a small side project and quickly grew in reputation and is now loved worldwide.

Sourced from the single-vineyard Liebich site, perched high in the hills behind the township of Rowland Flat, this wine captures both the richness and vitality of its elevated origin. The nose is reminiscent of creamy, freshly scraped vanilla pod and a mélange of dark berry compote draw. On the palate, flavours of satsuma plum and blackberry are layered with classic notes of coffee bean and subtle pepper spice. Its pleasing depth and gentle chewiness speak to the quality of the fruit, while a lift of fresh acidity brings balance and energy. The fruit flows seamlessly across the back palate, framed by well-integrated tannins that will continue to soften and evolve with time in the cellar.

Floral & Mineral

The Puiggros family has been producing wines from their own vineyards in Odena since 1843 for friends and family, however their wines have only been available commercially since 2008. The family came to realize that their traditional techniques and special terroir were something worth sharing with the rest of the world.

Signes del Priorat is Puiggros' first experience in the Priorat. A very limited edition of 600 bottles, made exclusively with Carinyena grapes planted on the steep slopes of the Porrera area. The slate soil on the slopes is known as llicorella ("licorice," due to its dark color) and is the main feature of the soil's terroir and the success of its native grapes.

The region's infertile soil imparts a characteristic minerality to the wine. On the nose, the wine has aromas of lavender and eucalyptus, that mingle with hints of candied fruit, rosemary, caramel and liquorice. Many of the vines harvested for this wine are old and produce low yields, which contributes to the wine's intensity on the palate.

Pair this wine with grilled meats or vegetables, something that will stand up to the tannins in the wine is key here. Avoid chili heat, as alcohol content enhances these flavours.

Located in the heart of Chile, the Maule region is one of the country’s most diverse and historic wine areas, with vineyards dating back to the 18th century. Set at 35° south, it enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters that clearly define the growing season. The region’s soils, shaped by ancient coastal mountain geology, are predominantly granite-based with clay and iron influences, forming deep, well-structured profiles that support healthy vine development and expressive wines.

The name Los Padrinos (“The Godfathers”) reflects Vinos Baettig’s role as the new custodians of the historic El Coronel de Maule vineyard in D.O. Cauquenes, acquired in 2022. That same year marked the inaugural vintage of Selección de Parcelas Los Padrinos, crafted from selected Cabernet Sauvignon parcels, complemented by fruit from carefully chosen old-vine growers in the surrounding area.

A striking expression of old-vine Cab, seamlessly balancing structure, depth, and vibrant energy. The nose opens with ripe black plum and cassis, unfolding into layers of smoked herbs, savoury spice, and a delicate hint of sweet balsam. The “Les Champs Fulliot” parcel, once home to quarries and open fields, takes its name from the Old French feuille (leaf) and bois foudre (thicket), evoking its natural origins.

Within the commune of Auxey-Duresses, the climat Le Val—meaning “valley” or “hollow”—denotes the narrow depression that extends from the Côte de Beaune into the Hautes Côtes.

The Cortonesi family has been a cornerstone of the Montalcino region for decades. Established in the 1970s, their estate spans 138 acres in one of the area's most storied regions, with 19 acres dedicated to producing world-class Brunello. The family began commercially selling their wine in 1985, and today, third-generation winemaker Tommaso Cortonesi continues the tradition. Tommaso combines his long-standing family traditions with modern technologies to craft some of the finest expressions of Tuscan Sangiovese. 

Deep ruby in colour, the nose is complex and expressive, revealing layers of red fruit intertwined with gentle spice. The palate is warm and juicy, unfolding with flavours of blackcurrant and blackberry alongside floral, mineral, and subtle underbrush notes. There is a sense of power and structure, with a velvety, medium-to full-bodied texture balanced by freshness. The finish is long and characterful, marked by ripe fruit, mineral and gently vegetal accents, with hints of campfire ash and leather. Named after the Piedmontese dialect term Punset, meaning “beautiful hill” or “point,” this historic estate in Neive was once noted by the Counts of Castelborgo for rising above the region’s autumn mists. Family-owned for generations, the winery officially began bottling commercially in 1964 under Renzo Marcarino, before Marina Marcarino led its transformative shift to certified organic farming in the early 1980s. Today, guided by biodynamic principles and a deep respect for natural balance, the estate is known for its minimally interventionist approach, grass-covered vineyards, and thriving biodiversity that work in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem.

Produced from a 1-hectare parcel in the San Cristoforo cru, Punset’s Campo Quadro Riserva sits alongside the estate’s Basarin Riserva, though the two are vinified in distinct styles.

In the glass, it shows an elegant, structured profile with an intense colour and a complex aromatic range that unfolds from ripe fruit to more delicate floral tones, layered with spice, chocolate and subtle buttery notes. Expect stewed fruit, over-ripened plums, clove and baking spice, there is also pronounced vanilla and toasted notes. The palate is concentrated, with notes of prune, raisin, chocolate, rich fruit and warm spices. To sum up, full bodied, lifting acidity, smooth tannins and a rich finish.

Like the wine, big and strong foods pair best. Try it with stufato (meat and vegetable stew) or a beef tenderloin with a truffle butter sauce. Or keep it simple with seasoned cheeses.
