Proudly family owned, the Borthwick vineyard is an established vineyard situated in Gladstone, the heart of the Wairarapa. Producing quality wine for over a decade, Paddy, an experienced wine maker, has gained a reputation for producing consistently great wines. The twenty seven hectares of vines bordering the Ruamahunga River are growing on stony, free draining, alluvial soils, with a micro climate giving warm daily temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall; perfect conditions for producing distinctive, quality wines.

This is about the purity of Pinot Noir with spicy savoury and bright, juicy red fruits. It is medium-bodied with soft velvety tannins, a mix of tart and sweet cherry fruit with a chocolate touch to the lightly oaked finish and a spicy zestiness to the lingering aftertaste

A perfect pairing for grilled quail, roasted chicken or the richness of pork shoulder. This wine can also stand up to glazed salmon or a decadent pizza with sweet potato, balsamic onions and soppressata.

This is wonderfully ripe and seductive complex, showing Black Doris plum, raspberry, vanilla, cedar and dark mushroom notes on the nose, followed by a concentrated palate that's fleshy and velvety. It's mouthfilling and richly expressed with terrific fruit power combined with refined mouthfeel, leading to an impressively long satisfying finish. At its best: now to 2026

Ripe, fleshy pinot noir with plum, dark cherry, anise, spice and liquorice supported by bright acidity and peppery tannins. An intense and moderately complex wine from what appears to have been a very successful vintage.
