When Michel Muré settled in Rouffach and planted his vineyard in the 17th century, he surely had little conception of the beautiful adventure that he was setting in motion for his descendants. In 1935, Alfred Muré extended the property with the addition of the 12-hectare (25-acre) wholly owned Clos Saint Landelin, foreseeing already its potential for exceptional quality. He replanted the terraces, ideally situated with their sunny exposure and shelter from the rain.

Nowadays it is Alfred’s grandson René, together with his children Véronique and Thomas, the 11th and 12th generations of the family, who are responsible for running this exceptional, wholly-owned vineyard and its neighbouring terroirs, using biodynamic methods.

The Muré Riesling Calcaires Jaunes (Yellow Limestone) is an organic Alsace Riesling displaying the classic purity of fruit with a characteristic mineral finish. Pale yellow in colour the nose offers wonderful lemony citrus notes. The palate is well balanced, dry and the finish is enhanced by a touch of acidity.

A great partner with seafood and fish dishes.

About the Winery

Domaine Muré

The Muré family has been winegrowers in the region of Rouffach since 1650. In 1935, Alfred Muré, René’s grandfather, bought 32 acres of family-monopole vineyard name Clos St. Landelin, an area that has been described as the best of Alsace Grand Cru since the 7th Century.

Today, René Muré, the 11th generation of the family, along with his children, Véronique and Thomas, are responsible for running their exceptional Grand Cru vineyard and neighbouring terroirs using biodynamic methods. Until this day, they persist in hand-picking every single grape, and focus on crafting wines that preserve the family’s credo. The resulting wines are some of Alsace's finest – powerful, elegant, and age-worthy.

Wet chalk, fresh hay and ripe apple laced with lemon characterize the nose on this wine. The palate comes in with rounded freshness, with highlights of hayflower and ripe, juicy apple edged by dried lemon peel. Smooth, juicy, rounded and dry, the palate retains a limestone coolness.
