Founded in 2005, Domaine de Bellene focuses on crafting wines from old vines with a commitment to sustainable, organic farming. Winemaker and proprietor Nicolas Potel's approach emphasizes producing wines that authentically reflect their origins and vintages, while preserving the land and culture for future generations. Under his leadership, Domaine de Bellene has earned respect among Burgundy enthusiasts, offering wines from both renowned and lesser-known appellations.

Since 2009, the Nuits Saint Georges Villages vat has been sourced from four different climats, with the vineyards having undergone extensive restructuring efforts to fully convert to organic farming. The nose opens with fresh aromas of black fruit berries, complemented by subtle ferrous undertones and hints of undergrowth. The palate presents medium-weight, ripe fruit flavours gently embraced by finely-grained tannins. The mineral quality re-surfaces on the finish, lingering elegantly.

94 Points - John Szabo, MS

This is a fluid and substantial, firm and structured NSG old vines, more tightly wound and reticent it seems than the average from this vintage, very Côtes de Nuits in style, a feature of the area in this challenging vintage. Black cherry mingles with damp earth and smoke, menthol and medicinal herbs - one gets the sense that this will evolve very favourably into a tonic and highly complex wine in time. I appreciate the grit and the vigor, not easy or generous. Try after 2028.
