Soléna is a combination of Spanish and French words Solana and Soleil, celebrating the sun, the moon and cycles of life. Launched in May of 2000 when the owners
purchased the 80-acre estate, which became the Domaine Danielle Laurent vineyard.
Furthering their successful careers in the Oregon wine industry, Laurent Montalieu and
Danielle Andrus Montalieu gifted this vineyard to each other for their wedding, and began making wine under the label named Soléna, after their daughter. Soléna Estate showcases the beauty of terroir from site-specific areas from estate vineyards in Yamhill-Carlton and McMinnville AVAs, as well as iconic single-vineyards around the Northwest.
From the estate affectionately dubbed the ‘wedding vineyard,’ which started it all, this is a powerful wine that matches with a range of foods and enlivens any evening. It has a hearty nose of bing cherries and black plum followed by warm spices and cracked peppercorn. The palate maintains lightness despite it's full-body with sturdy tannins tempered by ripe fruit flavours that resound after each sip.
This Pinot would match well alongside miso-glazed grilled chicken or pork chops drizzled with a cherry sauce.
