The Moreau family has been settled in the heart of Chablis since 1884. Louis Moreau, the sixth generation, studied oenology and viticulture in California and took over from his father when he returned to France in 1994. Nowadays, the domaine's vineyards extend all over the four levels of the appellation: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Premier Cru and Grand Cru.

The name "Vau Ligneau" translates as 'valley of the little brook', and this premier cru vineyard sits in a side valley on the left bank of the Serein. It has a higher proportion of clay than other premier crus, something that gives the wine a rounder profile. Its North-East exposure enhances its minerality & richness drawn from its calcareous and clay subsoil.

This wine has a classic Chablis character, with an elegant minerality and a rich, full palate. Hints of mint and pineapple on the nose, and a long finish. This 1er Cru Vau Ligneau is perfect to serve with seafood, especially with oysters or lobster in butter sauce.

Arguably one of the best producers in Chablis - Domaine Charly Nicolle was created with less than one hectare in 1979 by Robert Nicolle and Josette Laroche, who can both trace their history from winemaking families in Fleys back to the late 19th century. Since the creation of the Domaine, they have increased the size of their vineyards bit by bit, and currently the Domaine produces wine from 20 hectares of vines. In 1999, they were joined by their 20 year old son Charly, who had just graduated from the lycée viticole.

Today, Charly is officially in charge of the Domaine together with his wife Lucie, but Robert is still out in the vines nearly every day. The largest holdings of the Domaine are in AOC Chablis, located for the most part around the village of Fleys. The vinification is on the lees in stainless steel tanks, which produces a house style that is both fresh and vibrant, but also rich on the mid-palate.

Expect an intoxicating nose of florals with notes of almonds and honey and filled with ripe fruit aromas. The palate is a festival of flavour… tender and abundant. Its character, well-balanced with definite sweetness, was forged respecting the terroir and climate.

Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer in Burgundy. He grew up in a family dedicated entirely to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's.

Founded in 2009, Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of wines, with an emphasis on individual terroirs from vieilles vignes (old vines - 40 years or older) that are farmed responsibly. All of the growers that Nicolas Potel works with are either organic certified or farming according to the principles of lutte raisonée (“sustainable viticulture”). This enables Potel to consistently produce the expressive, terroir-driven style that is his vision.

Sourced from a 45-year-old parcel with small yields, this wine delivers a lot of classic White Burgundy character -- white flowers, stone fruits, moist earth -- at a very fair price.

A nice option for pairing with grilled chicken, grilled trout, fresh crab or eggplant fritters.
