Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer and pioneer in the Burgundy winemaking scene. He grew up in a family dedicated to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's. The Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of carefully cultivated and versatile wines, often made from old vines. All of the Maison wines are made with respect to sustainable and natural farming practices, with as little intervention as necessary to showcase their individual terroirs.

Opening up with a pure bouquet of white flower petals and honeysuckle that merge into soft honeyed aromas layered over top apple, pears and crème pâtissière. On the palate the wine reveals great depth and balance sewn together with a delicate thread of acidity. Lees ageing adds weight and texture to the wine, while soft oak notes melt into the orchard and citrus flavours infusing gentle spices into the outstanding finish.

Indulge when pairing this wine with food & match its rich complexity with a lobster bisque or duck foie gras with stuffed artichokes.

95 Points - Michael Godel

Wow. To say this Corton Charlemagne is youthful beyond reproach would be a massive understatement and 2021 a year that hold no punches because greatness lies in the eye of the experienced. This ’21 will not jump out and grab the senses with instancy or elicit immediate gratification but it will stop to make you consider Bourgogne’s place in humanity and existence. It will distract you from anything you may have been doing by performing some kind of subtle hypnosis so that minutes go by before you realize you have been tasting and thinking about everything and nothing at all. A quasi state of dreaming, “to be nowhere, to be no one, to have nothing, to be free.” A great effect from white Burgundy that will only get better as the flesh, musky aromas, waxy feels and viscous textures develop in this wine. Drink 2025-2036.
