Domaine de Bellene is the creation of Nicolas Potel – the son of the legendary Gérard Potel of Domaine Pousse d’Or. Potel's name has become synonymous with Burgundian wine and he is known for constantly challenging the borders of traditional winemaking in the region.

The cuvée of Nuits-Saint-Georges-Village, which has been part of Domaine de Bellene since 2009, comes from four different climats. A slightly fresher nose offers up decidedly floral-infused aromas of plum, cherries, and licorice with a mildly spicy touch. The palate offers medium weight with refined flavours all wrapped in serious if slightly rustic finale.

About the vintage: A difficult vintage to say the least, but not one without merit. The region suffered reduced yields from spring frosts and a cool summer, meaning this vintage would have to be won through hard work in the vineyard and in the winery. This is a year of smaller quantities of fresh, refined and thoughtful wines from a full range of climats. A return to a cooler vintage, compared to recent years, will be sure to delight classic Burgundy lovers who favour elegance and finesse.

93 Points - David Lawrason

This shows good colour depth and a nicely lifted, spicy nose with some blackcurrant, black cherry and violet. There is also considerable oak spice and vanillin. It is medium weight, firm, mineral and quite intense - very much on point for Nuits-Saint-Georges. There is a ferrous/iron streak that melds with the firm, slightly green tannin to dominate the finish. The length is excellent. Best 2025 to 2030.
