Founded in 2005, Domaine de Bellene focuses on crafting wines from old vines with a commitment to sustainable, organic farming. Winemaker and proprietor Nicolas Potel's approach emphasizes producing wines that authentically reflect their origins and vintages, while preserving the land and culture for future generations. Under his leadership, Domaine de Bellene has earned respect among Burgundy enthusiasts, offering wines from both renowned and lesser-known appellations.

From a 40-acre plot planted in 2004 under Clos Rousseau, this wine benefits from favourable climatic conditions and vineyard topography, which promote noble rot on about 2% of the berries, adding exotic aromas. Oak influence enhances notes of sweet spices and toasted hazelnuts on the nose, while the palate exhibits good density and texture, with mid-weight flavours that echo the nose and carries a subtle mineral quality on the pithy finish.

92 Points - John Szabo, MS

Seems a fairly ambitious, and successful, example of Santenay blanc, displaying a wide amalgam of gentle wood spice, citrus, stone and orchard fruit, wet stones and blanched almonds, and more. The palate is broad and mouthfilling, rich and satisfying, perhaps a bit more obvious and less nuanced, but with plenty of appeal. I look forward to following the evolution of this wine - I suspect it will develop nicely into the '30s.
