Domaine de Bellene is the creation of Nicolas Potel – the son of the legendary Gérard Potel of Domaine Pousse d’Or. Potel's name has become synonymous with Burgundian wine and he is known for constantly challenging the borders of traditional winemaking in the region.

This beautiful Savigny-lès-Beaune Villages cuvée is a blend of three parcels: all three vineyards are more than 60 years old and were converted to organic viticulture when they were acquired by the Domaine in 2005 and 2006. The wines from these vineyards are always round and fruity, with soft tannins and a mix of red fruit flavours. Highly fresh and classic in style.

About the vintage: A difficult vintage to say the least, but not one without merit. The region suffered reduced yields from spring frosts and a cool summer, meaning this vintage would have to be won through hard work in the vineyard and in the winery. This is a year of smaller quantities of fresh, refined and thoughtful wines from a full range of climats. A return to a cooler vintage, compared to recent years, will be sure to delight classic Burgundy lovers who favour elegance and finesse.

93 Points - David Lawrason

This ticks two of the most important boxes for Savigny-Les-Beuanes. One is a lifted very floral aroma; the other is a certain tender and silky texture. The nose shows ripe cherry/raspberry fruit with lilac/rose florality and well integrated, quite spicy and rich oak. It is medium bodied, lithe and well balanced with gentle warmth and fine acidity and tannin. The length is excellent. Enjoyable now with some seration, best through 2029ish
