Aromatic & Flavourful

Tantalus Vineyards was founded on the belief that exceptional wines made from a single vineyard of outstanding pedigree would capture the imagination and palates of those seeking authenticity and a sense of place. The winery is situated on the eastern slopes of the Okanagan Valley, overlooking the shores of Lake Okanagan and the City of Kelowna. Originally known as Pioneer Vineyards, the site was first planted to table grapes in 1927 and today is known as the oldest continuously producing vineyard in British Columbia.

A shimmering pale straw in colour, this wine exudes bright aromas of orange peel, white flowers, fresh pear and lime leaf. A slatey minerality adds lift and intrigue. The palate is lush and juicy with tangerine and lime juice, rounding out as the wine opens with richer tropical notes of guava, starfruit and kiwi. Concentration abounds, with no shortage of fresh, natural acidity to offer the hallmark tension they seek in their Rieslings. Enjoy now, or watch it evolve over the next 10 to 12 years comfortably.

We recommend to pair with spicy and flavourful Thai curries or fresh sushi.

This product is part of the LCBO Vintages program. It may take approximately 3-4 weeks to be delivered.

90 Points

There is nothing regular about the “regular” Tantalus Riesling, and judging by the rush to southeast Kelowna to grow Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, the terroir is equally compelling. The purity of fruit is the Tantalus signature, and you get that and more in this 2018, a vintage that started slow and slowed down under a haze of summer smoke before harvest. The wine is bright, clean and refreshing with signature aromas of tangerines, lime leaf, and flowers that spill across its stony, mineral palate, flecked with kiwi and starfruit. Just a baby, you can drink it now or hold it a decade.
