Proudly family owned, the Borthwick vineyard is an established vineyard situated in Gladstone, the heart of the Wairarapa. Producing quality wine for over a decade, Paddy, an experienced wine maker, has gained a reputation for producing consistently great wines. The twenty seven hectares of vines bordering the Ruamahunga River are growing on stony, free draining, alluvial soils, with a micro climate giving warm daily temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall; perfect conditions for producing distinctive, quality wines.

Perfumed aromas of apricots, nectarines and green pears. A rich mid-palate displaying mild oak influence. The wine finishes dry and crisp with lingering hints of warming spice.

The gentle acidity and marked fruitiness of a well balanced Pinot Gris perfectly complements roast pork with a stewed pear sauce, or match with creamy pastas, poultry and seafood.

Very enticing scents of fresh ripe pears and golden delicious apples, there's a leesy baking spice layer and silty mineral complexity reflecting the site. Ripe, fresh and nicely complex. On the palate - decent weight with a satin cream texture, contrasting warmth from the alcohol and youthful acid line delivers crispness and energy. A chalky mouthfeel suggests some fine fruit tannins and the finish swings back to white fleshed tree fruit flavours of nectarine, apple and pear. Balanced, well made and ready to drink from 2022 through 2025+. Excellent.
