Domaine de Bellene is the creation of Nicolas Potel – the son of the legendary Gérard Potel of Domaine Pousse d’Or. Potel's name has become synonymous with Burgundian wine and he is known for constantly challenging the borders of traditional winemaking in the region.

Les Perrières is a lovely climat for whites, located at the top of the slope with rocky, thin soils that bring a refreshing crisp character to the wines. Barrel fermented and aged on it's lees for up to 14 months, expect a lush wine with an overlay of spice and cream and a rich, luxuriant texture. Not to worry, the bright lemony fruit and mineral, saline notes are still there!

About the vintage: A difficult vintage to say the least, but not without merit. The region suffered reduced yields from spring frosts and a cooler summer, meaning this vintage would have to be won through hard work in the vineyard and in the winery. This is a year of smaller quantities of fresh, refined and thoughtful wines from a full range of climats. A return to a cooler vintage compared to recent years will delight classic Burgundies lovers who favour elegance and finesse.

94 Points - Michael Godel

In 2013 the decision was made to plant chardonnay instead of pinot noir and here is yet another vintage to support that decision. More glaring this time in fact because while 2021 is a true throwback to the way things used to be in terms of hard, closed, unforgiving and austere pinot noir - such is not the case for chardonnay. Les Perrières is blessed with fruit, glorious but also grippy, tannic and high extract fruit. Not quite as aromatic as say Santenay but both texture and intensity are bigger, stronger and in serious command. This will age slowly and really well - the way it just sits in the glass for minutes on end without changing tells us that much. Drink 2024-2030
