Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer and pioneer in the Burgundy winemaking scene. He grew up in a family dedicated to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's. The Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of carefully cultivated and versatile wines, often made from old vines. All of the Maison wines are made with respect to sustainable and natural farming practices, with as little intervention as necessary to showcase their individual terroirs.

A wine with some serious age on it, offering notes of stewed black fruits, licorice and damp forest floor on the nose. The palate shows underlying minerality, enlivening the black cherry and sweet spice flavours.

A solid match with veal shoulder stuffed with wild mushrooms or pâtés with foie gras.

93 Points - Bruce Sanderson, Senior Editior New York

Starts out with sweet strawberry, cherry and floral aromas and flavours that quickly give way to the lively structure. There's purity, focus and balance, but this needs time for the two halves to come together. Best from 2014 through 2026.
