Mineral & Fresh

Zuani is a family-owned winery in the Collio DOC of Friuli Venezia Giulia specializing in terroir-focused white wines. Set in the hills of Giasbana in the far northeastern corner of Italy, the influence of bordering Austria and Solvenia can be felt on the estate and sensed through the style of Zuani's wines.

A white wine obtained from a blend of native Friulano grapes and international varieties that thrive in Friuli, especially in Collio, with its outstandingly favourable geology, soil types and site climates. It has a soft, complex, fruit-rich nose enhanced by lingering mineral notes. The warm, broad palate echoes the nose, revealing balanced acidity and impressively rich fruit on the long finish.

Delicious with light starters, baked rice or pasta, fish and white meats.

This product is part of the LCBO April Classics Catalogue. It will take approximately 3-4 weeks to be delivered from its release date.

About the Winery

Zuani

Zuani winery is located in the heart of Collio, Friuli, a hidden appellation between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps. Coming from a long tradition of winemakers in Croatia that goes back to the 19th century, Patrizia Felluga saw her dream come true when she acquired the estate and the vineyards in 2001. Today, her son and daughter have taken over the winery; producing exclusively white wines. Everything hinges on one exceptionally well exposed “cru”, or vineyard, on a gentle hillside where about eleven acres of vines and gardens surround the Zuani cellar.

The varietals planted are Tocai Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon, a carefully chosen range that produced the first vintage of Zuani Collio Bianco. The Zuani winery embodies the Felluga family winemaking heritage and expresses the fundamental unity of the traditional aspects of Friulian varieties with their more modern side.

Delicately scented, this has soft aromas of white spring flowers, white stone fruit and botanical herb. Vibrant and elegant, the racy palate offers peach, Meyer lemon and ripe pear alongside crisp acidity before a tangy mineral close. Editors' Choice.

93 Points - David Lawrason

This is a very fine white blend from one of my favourite white wine regions in the world. This combines serious complexity and intrigue with a freshness and delicacy against all odds. Expect well woven aromas of apricot, lemon, mustard seed, florals, light toast (but no oak) and a certain waxiness. It is light to medium bodied, with fine acidity, minerality and a touch of CO2 spritz. Flavours have excellent intensity and length that dovetail with the warmth and acidity. Slightly pithy grapefruit and a salty tang on the finish. The length is excellent to outstanding. Tasted April 2021
